If dps cannot kill the turrets

is it my job as a healer to get it or?

Well someone has to do it

It’s technically a team-job. If you see a turret, everyone shoots it and it dies immediately.

While you are at it take care of the entire enemy team

Mercy can easily take care of them.

So your logic is this… say the dps is flanking and the turret is in your line of sight… do you just stare at it let it kill you and say “DPS TF DUDE!?” lol no it’s the teams job, see a turret? destroy the turret. Stop blaming a class for something that is a team effort… Jesus Christ I am reading so many forums of people just hating on a class and throwing shade cause " It’s not my class and I’m clearly carrying" NO you aren’t, you aren’t this second coming of Jesus to overwatch… thats Jjonak… you are a casual player so sit down shut up and just have fun lol

but they were not flanking, they just looked at the turret and completely ignored it

Well then ya that’s their fault, but why are you blaming a class for this issue like we did it? That’s like if a kid eats a cookie from the cookie jar then you kick the dog, the hell did the dog do? lol

As a healer for example if you can take out a turret without risking your own life or miss healing a teammate, then for sure get that turret. you can support your team by getting rid of a turret. There’s been a few times as Mercy in Valk where I would be able to fly up and get the turret and it allowed my dps to distract and kill the torb.

Taking care of threats is everyone’s job. If you’re a Support and can deal with a turret or flanker, you should usually do it. Even more so if you can do it without much additional risk to yourself or the team - dealing with even that one turret can mean the difference between being able to heal through incoming damage or not.

That said, dealing with turrets and flankers isn’t a Support’s primary job - that’s helping your team to stay alive. If that turret isn’t a big threat that’d make your primary job clearly more difficult, feel free to ignore it. Same if dealing with it would take undue resources out of you - sometimes taking that second or two out of your healing will get people killed, and at that point it was a bad decision. It’s a question of balance: Is it worth losing some healing right now, for the time it takes to deal with an extra threat?

Another consideration is that as a support (depending on who exactly you play), you often have a better overall sense of the battlefield than the other roles. They may not have even noticed the turrets or other threats, or may have noticed but not located them. As such, it can be enough to inform them of the locations, especially if you’re on voice and as such can do it without extra effort.

Such things are primarily a DPS job. Can I shoot turrets and will I? Yes, but that means I’m not healing the tanks while we’re advancing. Most supports can’t do both at the same time. The ones that can usually aren’t the big tank healers.

I can shoot Pharah too and deal with flankers or destroy teleporters but again all that means I won’t be healing the class that takes near-constant management to stay alive. Can DPS keep the tanks alive while I kill a turret or shoot a Pharah? No? Then perhaps they should primarily deal with such things instead of telling me to do it when I ask about it.

It’s funny when we have McCrees and Widows saying “I got no heals” in games where I had to be the one to manage Pharah.

Dps has easier time of taking care off such tasks however most heroes have the ability to pull it off. If it does not threat ones primary job and doing the task yourself doesn’t have much impact on the match, then take the chance. I’ve seen Mercy players just melee a sym turret while using GA.

Depends on the situation honestly

If you have a gun that can effectively deal with it, why not? If you’re Moria or brig? probably not. But as ana, zen, mercy, bap, there’s no reason you can’t shoot it if you have the chance.

Everyone’s job to do this

Yes. That is like my main job playing Lucio.

Mercy, Lucio, Zen and Bap are all good at dealing with turrets – better than some DPS in fact.
