they are both basically the same damn thing… if you are trolling and smurfing you know damn well that you dont belong down there and youre going to have an unfair advantage so isnt that gameplay sabatoge for other people ? … is it ok to ruin other peoples gameplay experience because you want to be a jerk? or to amuse yourself?
if thats ok then why is it against the rules to troll and throw to amuse yourself?
most of these smurfs admittedly sell these accounts so why isnt it bannable like boosting ? boosters make money and they get banned …
i get the feeling it might have something to do with blizzard making money from purchased smurf accounts… but maybe im wrong… maybe the big guys at blizzard just like to make up nonsense rules and play the double standard game
if you guys are just going to let everyone do whatever the hell they want why not just let everyone start aimbotting … you clearly dont give a crap about fair play anyway

Unless you do something to manipulate your MMR, then the matchmaker is the closest thing to blame. From what I’ve seen, people sort out very fast. It’s on the people who are in the games where they throw to report them

everyone likes to use the “the smurfs will move up fast” comment… well that really dosnt help when there are literally thousands of jerk smurfs doing it
everyone wants to act like theres like 1 smurf here and 1 there in like every 40 games… LOL its more like 1 in every 40 games DOSNT have a smurf and actually feels legit

You can’t be that black and white with it… People get crafty when they want to stay in a low rank its not that hard without looking like youre throwing… People should not be smurfing. plain and simple
It is ruining the game for everyone. I have ran into it so many times and even had a few rub it in my face that theyre supposed to be grand masters but decided to play in plat. Its wrong

im glad more people are starting to see the problem…i personally dont even care if i dont “rank up” its the fact that i get in there and do very well… try hard for the team and theres always some guy on the other team just wiping out the inexperienced players on my team… and im not talking about just playing well… i mean COMPLETELY DESTROYING them
this game is at its best when the teams are evenly matched and i feel like ive earned the win… not given a free win and not hit with a guaranteed loss because of pricks and a flawed system

If they are consistently staying down then they are throwing. If they are throwing, then they are on grounds to be reported for gameplay sabatoge.
Once again, if they really are that good, and they really are some 3 star account that is obviously a Smurf or something of the sort, they have thrown games.

Problem with this is it can be insanely hard to know they are doing it. Even harder with hidden profiles.
As for the “they climb fast”… I find that one hard to believe as well. Not because they can’t climb fast but because they even need to. The only way to place below Plat for a masters/GM would be to throw.
Who said anything about 3 stars… Are you saying its ok for them to ruin other players fair experience while they rank up 100 levels? Because I’m telling you, if you wanted to you could float through that at the same rank without being obvious
The issue here is the ones who are obvious and even admit it. And rarely are they just at level 1. So don’t give me that whole ohh its ok theyre ruining youre game, they will be up in rank very soon bs

Do they move up fast though?
Played some gold games with a GM and a diamond smurf (I don’t feel guilty at all due to games I’ve lost due to throwers, etc).
Thanks to wonders of Mmr matchmaking we either got wood tier sub bronze morons on our team to drag us down, or enemy team had a better smurf to smash us.
Might explain why I see so many games where a single dps has 60% kp. Even saw a 76% kp once. Kabaji levels of carrying.

Per the reporting system, anything that affords an unfair advantage is considered cheating.
Smurfing affords an unfair advantage, thus it’s cheating as per Blizzard’s own rules.

You learn a new character on a separate account because the toxicity at your regular elo isn’t worth it. Three year’s worth of near-forced support / tank experience doesn’t carry over to DPS as well as you think.
And before anyone pipes in with that, “Use QuickPlay for practice” nonsense, you gotta remember that QP is to Competitive as Mystery Heroes is to QP. It’s too different. Gotta get real experience somehow. Take solace in knowing that once the character “clicks”, they move up and out right away.

its an issue of perception, a poorly ranked player will be perceived as “smurf” as well.
Smurfing is a problem that we cant fix, cause people that has alt account will defend it. If this game is a PVE alt accounts wouldn’t matter cause it wouldn’t effect game-play. Since this game a pvp only it will effect game-play and overwhelm the matchmaker. Comp is mess up in low ranks, cause there are some jerks that claims to be on their alt account, and wants to practices on hero’s they don’t play on their main. I run into these people 9 out of 10 games i played and lose 9 matches cause of it. I know there are some smurfs that will play by the rules but most of them won’t. they either throw to be in low ranks or smash people in low ranks.
Like reporting does anything lol

Unpopular hero mains get banned before throwers. Wont argue with that.

This is my smurf. Tank main in high diamond.
Wanted to try dps and support hero.
So far: I can’t play dps that well. Only support. While learning widow, i can hit 5 shots in a row then miss next 5.
Unless I’m throwing to derank? I shouldn’t be banned.
As for not picking tanks when we need one: I’ll say I can’t play in matches. But,so far,haven’t thrown one match.
Funny because same people like you would actually harass me if I say I’m smurfing as a dps/healer. My dps is amazing because I’ve got eye related issues. But well, guess what? I’ve to play tanks 24/7 and if I can’t keep up with dps in my ranks, I can’t play the game because some special snowflakes think smurfing is the reason they aren’t having fun. Only a smurf can tell if there are a lot. Unfortunately in gold or below there aren’t smurfs every game.
