If Beta queue times are replicated is OW2 doomed?

Open queue is underrated, but then again not-dps is also underrated so oh well.

Yeah let me stop you right there mate. Point by point:

1 - ā€œVeteransā€ threatening to leave is one of the most empty threads there is. Everyone knows that if they have been playing OW1 for so long, those players ā€œleaveā€ for some weeks and comeback after

2 - F2P is not going to be a magical solution, but underestimating the stupidly HIGH amount of people that will try and learn this game for at least 1-2months with their friends just because its free is a HUGE mistake.

3 - New heroes/reworks bring people to try that role. That is just a pure FACT. And the fact is, those things have not been happening on the Support role but the other 2. If Fox gir is even 50% as popular as Mercy was, the Support queues will EXPLODE.

Now you can be mister Gloom and Doom if you want, thats your choice, but if no one knows what will happen, then no one knows but please, stop comparing it to games with no Role Queues or even BRs. Those are totally different mechanics and they are F2P, OW2 beta is NOT F2P, its restricted and closed to only current OW1 license holders or people that paid for the Watchpoint Pack.

Stop making flawed/skewed comparisons.

The problem with OQ is what it always have been in the past. You cant balance around 1 and 3 tanks at the same time. Different balancing is not possible between modes. Most people would play DPS and tanks in that mode and would force others to play support or just play without one.

RQ is not the problem. It only shows what will happen in OQ: more or less just tanks and DPS. Blizz needs to work on support very hard and very fast to fix it.

It depends. You still can play other things while waiting or play support for instant queue. Also OQ or arcade is also an option. So its not like they HAVE to wait. Will it hurt? Yes 100%. But I think blizz knows this and will act. They cant allow OW2 to be so badly received.

No, I donā€™t think they do.

Blizzard should just take the L and revert back to 6v6. Change to two tank types to avoid double shield.
Right now many old characters are broken. Even in Tank category. Winston and Hog. Old maps are broken too. Queue times are worse than OW1, even though they specifically changed to 1-2-2 to improve queue times. You ran a game for 6+ years with 6v6, it is NO WONDER it is going to have huge balancing issues with 5v5. The game just isnā€™t designed for 5v5, stop forcing a jigsaw in the puzzle that doesnā€™t fit.

It isnā€™t working Blizzard. Donā€™t make this mistake and kill OW2 before itā€™s even born. Most people were happy with OW1 had you not stopped releasing content for it and hadnā€™t pushed OWL down our throats.

Of course you can.

You can always balance around whatever is the strongest.

Just have more/more frequent health packs scattered around.

So your solution is to make single tanks weak AF and make supports not needed at all with more health packs? Dudeā€¦

Not necessarily weak, we could just redirect their power in the direction of damage rather than damage mitigation. Which is literally what theyā€™re doing anyway.

Or we can finally stop pretending that OQ is a good idea. It was terrible in the past for the majority of people and it sometimes still is in OQ comp. 122 is the official mode the game is balanced around. Thats it.

122 is a failure already and we havenā€™t even released the game yet.

Ofcourse, cant you see how wildly popular OW nowadays compared to all those ancient lols, counter strikes and alike

Blizzard has actual data and confirmed beta ow2 queue times are better than ow1 so far

Really, when all the changes are on Tank and DPS, is anyone the least bit surprised the queue times are skewed? Wait till fox-girl drops, the queue times will start to even out, but yeah each time they drop a new character onto a role that role drains players from the other roles. Itā€™s just uber magnified and effect right now.

to be fair thereā€™s a good chance there was a massive influx of players these last couple days because of them allowing ā€œeveryoneā€ in. Beta 1 improved significantly where the last week was around 5 minutes or less for dps and tank rather than like 10+ and <10 for tank and dps respectively.

I think if we get a beta 3 and it has a new support and queue times are still super awful then we have good reason to be concerned since theoretically that should be best case scenario. Especially if itā€™s an open beta (which it really should be)

Did it improve though? It might depend on the server/timezone but for me it was and is >10 minutes/>10 minutes/<10 seconds (just checked the current state)

When they changed moira queuetimes slighty changed for a day but went back to the numbers above afterwards. ā€žFox girlā€œ has to be ridiculously op to have a significant impact. After all only one of two supports will be able to play her.

I dont think the varity of heros is the problem.

beta 1? at least in eastern na server it did yeah. to be fair week 3 was when they buffed baptiste and zen so a lot of people were just playing (admittedly overtuned) zen. kicking people off the map was fun though

Yeah sure theres no denying ppl want to check out new stuff. But this lasts days not weeks. As i said even with the moira change you could see ā€žsomeā€œ difference. When b2 started you saw JQ every game but thats not the case anymore

Itā€™s going to fail unless they figure out some way to fix queue times, yes.

There will be some people that are willing to play 10 minute queue times, but not many. Most likely, they will have a ton of new players try it out, then all go back to the other games they were playing, because, who wants to sit in a queue, lol.

Now, nowā€¦they didnā€™t do TICKETsā€¦ they did PASSES. Letā€™s be serious here!

I just feel bad for all the kids that bought the watchpoint pack already, and find out a month after release the game is just as bad as OW1 is now.
