If Bastion had an E, what would it be?

boosts speed by 50% or something?

Bastion has his Grenade turret cylinder on his back. Why not have his E utilize a small grenade launcher’esq system? Have the turret fling over his shoulder and fire “insert appropriate ammo that isn’t op here”.

Um. It’s a minigun.

This is my idea (And it comes with an Upgrade to Ironclad)

Bastion

  • New ability: Ganymede

Cooldown: 3s (From return)
Travel speed: 10m/s
Latch-on radius: 3m
Ally detection radius: 10m

Ganymede flies in the direction Bastion is facing and travels straight until he collides with a wall or gets within 3m of an enemy.
Should Ganymede collide with a wall, he will wait until an enemy comes nearby or Bastion calls him back.
If Ganymede gets close to an enemy, he will follow them and begin tweeting, revealing their position to Bastion only. Allies will gain this benefit if they are within 10m of Ganymede. This effect has unlimited range but will cease if Bastion dies.
The afflicted enemy can cease the effect by firing or punching at Ganymede circling their head, upon which he will take the most direct route back to Bastion. Ganymede cannot be scared away while flying to or from Bastion. Ganymede can be scared while stationary.
Bastion can manually call Ganymede back at any time. Ganymede cannot be deployed while flying to or from Bastion.
A small image of Ganymede is displayed on Bastion’s UI while he is deployed. The image will pulsate yellow if a target is found.

  • Ironclad: Passive

If Ganymede is not active and not on Cooldown, Ganymede will reveal the position of the nearest enemy to Bastion within 10m and Line of Sight. Allies cannot see any targets revealed in this way.

Specific interactions:

  • Ashe

B.O.B can scare Ganymede away from the Ashe that he belongs to.

  • Bastion

Ganymede cannot detect or intercept an opposing Ganymede

  • Genji

Ganymede cannot be reflected.

  • Hanzo

Ganymede can be revealed by Sonic Arrow

  • Moira

Biotic Grasp (damage) and Biotic Grasp (healing) will both scare Ganymede.
Biotic Orb cannot scare Ganymede
Fade will clease Moira of Ganymede

  • Sombra

Ganymede cannot latch onto an invisible Sombra
Activating Stealth will cleanse Sombra of Ganymede who will return to Bastion.
Hack does not disable an active Ganymede.
Hack prevents Bastion from calling Ganymede back manually.
Hack does not disable Ironclad’s passive use of Ganymede
EMP cannot scare Ganymede

  • Widowmaker

Ganymede can be seen through walls with Infra Sight

  • Wrecking Ball

Grapple claw will not clease Wrecking Ball of Ganymede until he reaches top speed.
Piledriver will not cleanse Wrecking Ball of Ganymede until impact.

Comments: This new ability should give Bastion a new form of utility and a way to see oncoming threats. While there are simple strategies of firing Ganymede at a flanker to keep tabs on them or keeping him by a flank route as a warning, we look forward to seeing what players do with this new avian ability (and feathery friend!).

Using his ultimate he reconfigures the minigun into a grenade launcher. Who’s to say he wouldn’t be able to apply it in the manner I previously talked about?

That’s just a normal tank gun though. Maybe I’m being too specific and should stop but isn’t a grenade launcher something that fires grenades rather than artillery shells? Or whatever a tank shot is called.

You are being quite specific but that isn’t a bad thing! I love detailed discussions. They enlighten me quite a lot.

Enhanced Targeting: Pressing “E” within 1.5m of an enemy targets one large part of their body (Arm, leg, head, torso, pelvis), whichever is closest to the player’s crosshair. This causes it to glow a bright red for Bastion, and Bastion alone. It also expands the hitbox of this body part by 15% for Bastion, and Bastion alone.

Self repair. Because that’s what it was before they moved it.

Don’t think all characters need an E ability, since it could very easily break a character (aka Mercy… Cough). Bastion is fine with the abilities he has imo.

I am for the mini personal shield, but I want Bastion to be more tankier in every form, not only the turret one.
And I have an idea, when you press E, you gain an additional shield of 100 hp.

A button to send him back to the spawn room.

Analyze, focuses on one enemy and swaps bullet type to be the most effective on that enemy.

Normal health: Regular bullets, 30
Shields: Burst to counter the replenish that shields have, 21 in a burst of three
Armor: Armor piercing, duh, 25

Edit: added ammo amounts for each type

A four second shield.

Terminator mode (2 sec infrared sight).

And it can only recharge if put away. And to prevent spam of the shield, slap a 2s cooldowm between use.

I would take that or just give him back his frontal barrier from beta but with reduced health instead of the old 1,000 hp it had. It’s funny they didn’t even try reducing the health on his barrier they just took it away.

I’d rather just try it at 500 hp with no cooldown. 500 hp can be gone in like 2-3 seconds if you want a long cooldown it better have more health. The original shield in Beta was 1,000 hp. 15 seconds is a bit much though considering Orisa has a barrier like 3 times the size with 900 hp on an 8 second cooldown. If he had an 800 health barrier on a 10 second cooldown that would be fair.

Yeah and very often with Orisa’s you can redeploy before the previous blew up, 500 seems fair as it’s on par with Brigs which is tough but destroyable. A 10-12s cooldown would maybe also fair rather than 15s though.

Either way I wouldn’t want to see him be his own pirate ship shield - but then again multiple barriers leads to a lot of redunancy and wasted power which is why you rarely see Orisa and Rein, or even those with Winston together.

but seriously it would be cool if you hit E and bastion kinda did like a little upward flip and tumble and landed somewhere about 10-15m away. you can’t direct where he lands easily though in the UI, but anyway

Hight: 3 times Bastions standing hight
Vertical velocity: 5 times walking speed.
Horizontal speed: 6 times walking speed

For the duration of the usage Bastion fires jump jets allowing for forward and upward motion, for rapid motion, If Bastion lands on red team member that team member suffers damage [to be determined]

If Bastion falls a greater Distance than the jump jets maximum height then upon landing on the ground Bastion stuns those around him for a 2.25 meters.
