If armor dmg resists / why not also make it harder to heal?

Shouldn’t armor be harder to heal since it has damage mitigation already?

Or at least shouldn’t it get the full 20% dps anti-heal passive? (Although this even seems pretty minor nerf tbh heheh)

What’s the OW community opinion about the armor stats right now?

armor being more efficient to heal would be fine if it was at a flat 30% damage reduction instead of whatever it is currently

currently it’s around 40-50% more effective if your target is being damaged by shotguns and spread weapons, and 30-35% against headshot based burst weapons

i wouldn’t be opposed to making healing armor the same as healing white hp but idk that sounds confusing to code

Only tanks resist the dps passive, so this doesn’t matter for Bastion, Torb, or Brigitte who will always get the 20% reduction.

Plenty of people having been talking about the tank passive being a problem because of how lopsided tank balancing is. D.Va, one of the dominant tanks right now, needed her armor to be stronger or a headshot reduction. Did she need both? Definitely not. With the DPS passive reduction AND knockback reduction, she’s pretty hard to manage.

They reverted armor back to a flat reduction from the 30% thing and it was bad so they immediately doubled it and then tacked on a 25% headshot reduction for tanks to try and fix something that wasn’t really broken and somehow made it worse. Armor is better than ever against consistent damage and somewhat irrelevant against burst damage, where, before, it was pretty evenly effective across damage types.

Armor strength is a piece of a larger narrative about tanks getting sweeping changes that don’t have the same impact on each hero. Trying to one-size-fits-all balance tanks clearly isn’t working very well. Tanks should be individually balanced as-needed instead of making a laundry list of what needs to be done and sticking it on everyone.

Armor is not the only way to balance DVa. Her cooldowns and DM recharge could be worsened somewhat.
