If a xim/mnk on console detection is made don't mess up

Ubisoft made a anticheat “mousetrap” for mnk on console, which when it detects a player using it gives them input delay instead of a ban which worked sort of effectively for about a month but the players found a workaround and the cheating company also updated the software to make mousetrap ineffective.

Overwatch 2 on console at high ranks is literally unplayable because of this cheat (if I play 10 games I wouldn’t be surprised if 5-7 have cheaters) so when I heard of overwatch hinting at making a detection for it I wanted to warn of how ubisoft messed up and not banning them, this only helped for about a month, I believe this was done through short term monetary greed trying to keep the cheaters in the game to make profit off of them.

I hope blizzard will not do the same and actually plays it aggressively and bans them. (in overwatch terms) When you sleep dart the tracer you don’t walk away and let her wake up you finish them off.

Google Mike Ybarra XIM tweet from 2/18/2018.

While working for Xbox he said API’s exist to detect and ban XIM users. But it’s up to the dev to use them. Sadly, when he went to run Blizzard he did not leverage those API’s.

Makes you wonder why.

They may not see it as ban worthy. Sony and MS allow this hardware on their consoles so hard banning people forever for using it comes off a bit harsh to me.

I get that its morally wrong for Ow specifically but its no big deal for a lot of games .

It is also difficult to code in the detection system and other games have had issues with it after it was implemented like fortnite. They dont want to be super fast to ban people when detecting is tricky

Its possible to do but also difficult to code and every game is different. Some games have implemented a system that ended up having issues and messing with other hardware that it shouldnt have like official controllers

I do think its wrong to xim in ow but they want to be careful about being quit to ban when the detection system itself isnt perfect

Microsoft literally tried to ban it and Sony I believe never said they allow it, they allow mnk on games which allow mnk. (Fortnite also has default console PC crossplay.)

You clearly don’t play high rank console if you think it’s not that bad. Every game it’s just a mercy pocketed xim with a dva standing on top of them and it’s literally unwinnable you can’t do anything, it is an insane advantage like the equivalent of a soft lock aimbot on pc. R6, apex, fortnite(you still get aim assist with it) overwatch, rust. Any fps console game which is competitives leaderboards are just full of xim users.

They don’t have to ban Ximmers, just deactivate aim assist and shunt them to the PC pool. Problem solved.

It does now, that wasnt always the case bud and what i said was accurate. Learn the history if you are going to comment

Sony and MS both allowed xim for a long time and now both are changing their stance on third party hardware. They dont actually comment on xim specifically either, just the use of third party hardware

Fortnite has mouse/keyboard support but these cheaters still use XIM to bypass the PC lobbies to have all the benefits included. That’s how pathetic they are to get any crumb of advantage.

Once again this doesn’t help, because they will find a workaround aand be put back in to console lobbies, most xims cheat to cheat not because they don’t have a pc

ubi could easily shut the company down by using a cease and desist order agianst them which can easily also turn into a cfaa violation against the cheating company

They never allowed it they just never did anything about it, also I know fortnite didn’t always have it I played it since season 0 on console they don’t really name companies individually they Just say 3rd party devices

If you detect a XIM pattern just lock out Widow and Ashe.

True, but it would be a start.

Honestly all Blizz has to do is allow native MNK input on console. Consoles ALREADY have a USB port you can plug a keyboard into. The game itself doesn’t recognize this. If the game recognized this and turned off aim assist, boomskies.

You should re-read this thread. Wouldn’t work because people would still use XIM to bypass the PC lobbies to cheat. Google it and you would see thousand of post about it.

I did in fact read the whole thread. Does it change that Blizzard should allow native K&M?

While they SHOULD be able to detect xim - I understand that there are issues as it masquerades as a controller - I do understand that it is difficult. I’m gonna let em cook and steam over the perfect aim Ashe in my console queue.

You know this is copium right? Yea sure there are xims out there but not nearly as frequent as you make it out to be….just because some one has better aim then you does not mean they are ximming just saying.

I play tank, and I play in t500, xims are very obvious, the micro jitters and swiping and a widow or ashe or soldier hitting every headshot it’s not copium because it’s not even my role, and I don’t randomly accuse because I can see it when someone is using it. I am also a r6 champ so I am very use to spotting it and their is lots when I say a 50%+ rate I’m not joking on EU servers it’s like the plague

Or maybe just maybe ppl have been playing fps games for years and got good…coming from someone who has started on cod and ended up on overwatch :man_shrugging:t4:

Again im not denying that there are xims just not as prevalent as you claim it to be…im sure the same allegations have been thrown your way as well if you are t500

Nah it is super obvious. Anyone who has used a XIM device can spot it. Bliz just don’t give a $h!t because they wouldn’t have a playerbase if they didn’t let console play with PC queue, and if they don’t let them XIM, they won’t queue with PC players. Why do you think they won’t let PC turn off crossplay, but they will let console?

QP is a heap of trash, and 95% of matches is forced crossplay and XIMmers. There’s no way Bliz doesn’t have the tools to deal with it and there’s no way they don’t know about it.
