Nerfing his move speed with shield would also help Orisa and Sigma be better picks as Rein being able to close the distance so quickly is why their weaker shields more often then not crumble against Rein comps.
I feel this is a better way to knock him down, most characters don’t have boops either. Steadfast is a powerful passive, but it only effects a handful of characters. Walking slower with shield up is buff to every other character in the game up against Rein.

Realistically, in the grand scheme of things, the steadfast nerf will do basically nothing to Reinhardts viability.

I too am a bit disappointed to see Reins steadfast nerfed
Don’t get me wrong- I feel rein was an outlier amongst the tanks
But personally, I was hoping to see him balanced around steadfast.
I don’t think the generic response to rein should be “knock him around like a ping pong ball”, and it definitely doesn’t feel good as rein to be treated as such.
I think the response to rein should be shield break- with changes made with that in mind.
Possibly reducing his shields health, but buffing his shield regen (which can be done in a number of ways- straight buffing the regen amount, reducing the delay before it recharges, etc) so he can still shield a lot overall, but introducing more frequent windows between.
Or something along those lines.
But definitely not his steadfast.

Probably. Steadfast IS fun though, and I’d be more open to the mundane parts of the character being nerfed first.

Fast movement with barrier up is absolutely the most glaring issue at the moment.

Honestly, the only good(for me)/bad thing I see out of nerfing Steadfast is making it so Roadhog can actually push him airborn with Whole Hog sooner than he can Shatter. Now, Roadhog slightly pushes Reinhardt away and up but not fast enough so, most of the time, he can pull of a Shatter and completely wreck the ulting Hog. With this nerf, he could get pushed up sooner so a Shatter wouldn’t activate.
And I don’t want another slow shield, we already have every other shield user in the game that works like that. He’s the only Tank Shield that can aggressively slam his face into the enemy with his shield; that’s what makes him an interesting character. He’s THE aggressive wall that slams into enemies.

Then reduce barrier and Rein HP, if he is now melee speedster and not a wall.
