You should turn it on.

Yes! How long it takes for the new hero they are learning to get from spawn to point. If they even make it there…

i just tell them to look at my comp profile if they have complaints

they can take it up with hamster hr

:clap::hamster:

But that isn’t how this game is played…

I’m not disputing that DM is helpful for learning to focus and stay calm in duels but anything beyond that needs proper practice in an actual 5v5 RQ gamemode.

1-10 is a fundamental game sense problem; it’s irrelevant to which hero you play.

It’s on, not sure why you expect that I’ll be getting much done as a character that I wasn’t even aware existed. But hey

i think AI and watching pro play helps a lot with learning cuz both are 0 stakes to learn from and although the AI play kind of stupid you can at least learn maps, work on aim, bait cooldowns, watch ultimates, and etc

if u happen to know anybody who can coach or review ur gameplay it is also a good idea, just be ready to take criticism

i spent a lot of hours in PvAI and i did really well in real matches relative to when i was starting out

next steps would be arcade and QP, maybe comp if you are lower elo; at higher elo maybe better to either play them in other modes first

As someone who is only truly annoyed by chronic leavers and actual griefers/throwers- this is A OK to me. I do it too. I wanna learn, let me learn. If you wanna sweat, go to Comp. I do not learn anything in Arcade.

People say “go learn in arcade” and then arcade is like

Idc if you are learning the character as long as you are actually learning. after the 5th time a newbie doomfist dives the gold orisa and gets melted, it’s not longer you learning, if anything it’s you intentionally not learning

This guy gets it. If I see mei wall you off in the same spot for the umpteenth time, you aren’t learning. Learning would be if after the first 3 you came up with a strategy to negate or escape it.

Then they get mad and report you for throwing since you’re learning in arcade lol.

I hope you’re joking.

Then be reported it’s that simple

If someone is 1 and 10, they’re probably struggling even in any kind of 1v1… that’s seriously bad if they’re not even at that level and they’re trying to play QP.

If someone is 1 and 10, they’re not even matching in 1v1s. they’re getting obliterated. they’re feeding and having hardly any value. Arcade modes would actually be pretty sensible for basic hero stuff.

I don’t see anywhere it says that it’s casual. Can you point it out?

I am ok with that. But let me leave when there is 2-3 of you in the same team please.

  • It isn’t “Competitive Mode”. If it’s not Competitive Mode, it suggest that it’s casual (why would you have two modes that are both competitive? Two different comp modes don’t need to exist).
  • There already is a Competitive mode. It’s in the name. That’s the competitive mode.
  • You don’t gain or lose SR in QP.
  • By design it’s not competitive as the goal of unranked is to make the quickest matches, even at the sacrifice of evenly matched players in the same lobby (meaning you can have everything from bronze to GM in the same lobby). Essentially the match making is extremely loose, which means the quality of the matches vary widely, which isn’t good for competitive fairness.
  • You don’t even play full games on payload/hybrid maps (you only play one side), so though you may have “won” on defense or Offense, you don’t actually know which team would have won if both sides were played.
  • QP is the mode used when devs want to test some new functions or features because they don’t want to do it in comp as it could be disruptive to the competitive aspect of the game. Which means they don’t mind it being disruptive to QP.
  • Brand new players must play qp in order to play comp, so it’s where new players will start off at to learn the bare basics of the game and when Comp mode was created, it was clearly stated that it was the serious game mode and the devs knew that players wouldn’t want to be matched with brand new players as it would ruin the integrity of the competitive mode, so brand new players would start in qp, which is not as serious as Comp mode.

In order to have a competitive game there are certain requirements for it to be considered competitive. The game has to be fair. Though there may be some indirect flaws that could unintentionally favor one team, it can’t be by design.
QP by design ignores multiple aspects to be competitive.

Anyone that thinks QP should be treated with the same regard as Competitive mode are just scared to play Comp.
I’ve had this discussion dozens of times and it always dwells down to the opposing side not wanting to play Comp, but demanding that QP be treated the same as Comp because they want the same experience as Comp, but refuse to play it because they don’t want to risk their rank or they think they are bad at the game and don’t want to be placed in low elo.

The sad part is that this wasn’t ever a discussion before OW2. It seems that a lot of the newer players that joined up after OW2 launched started pushing for QP to be like Comp.
Before, it was pretty unanimously agreed that QP was a place for new players to learn, for players to try characters they’ve never played, to jump on and play casually without having to take it seriously, to play with friends that are of very different ranks, to test out wacky comps or strategies that probably won’t work, but might be fun to do, etc.
You always knew that jumping into QP meant that the game was going to be casual and if you wanted anything more than that, no problem, there is a mode that already exists for that, Comp.

If you go 1 - 10 youre not learning anything except how to get back from spawn quicker… youre just ruining the game for people and should accept that its potentially affecting other peoples enjoyment of the game and they are well within reaspn to be annoyed by it

Players seem to not be able to understand theres a line between learning and sinply sabotaging your team.

I will watch Mission Impossible 5 today. Perhaps I’ll even rewatch a show I’ve seen already, who knows?

Tomorrow I might go read in the park if the weather is nice.
