I will never understand Rein players (part 2)

I just don’t understand the logic behind them having almost full HP during a team fight in a comp match and then they decide to sacrifice themselves by dashing into a normal squishy DPS and off a ledge with no buildings or anything for them to run into which clearly indicates they are purposely trying to kill themselves just to kill a DPS…

Yes. Because that is what every Reinhardt player does in every match at every ELO.

It happens a lot in many elo’s. I’ve seen higher tiers like GM’s even do it (xQc).

Because, it’s a lot of fun.

We Reinhardt players die so often on our shields protecting the team, it feels good to occasional die with the wind in our hair!

well i do it also sometimes. but only when i am sure i get something and when they have a ult. i will charge genji off the cliff when i has ult or just used it. or a zen.

The only time I’d consider doing this is if the enemy was ulting on my team, one time had a Genji dragon blade in my back line in Rialto so I charged him right off the map as there were no walls around and he was about to chop up our healers

oh, that’s easy to explain. I simply missed the wall

Gotta go for those plays… just as imaqtpie has said “If you don’t know what the f… you are doing, how are your enemies supposed to know what the f… you are doing?”

I way way way too often see Reinhardt’s charge when they should not.

That being said there are times when it can be worth it, often when you are on attack and you kill a non-mobile DPS you know you’ll get back to the frontline before them or if they pop an ultimate that will kill too many allies.

I don’t think any Rein should be using charge in combat while his shield health is above 500hp unless there is a mei ult or he is using it to parry doomfists rocketpunch or the wall is very close range. Rein should always have blocked a giant chunk of damage for his team and charging straight in is the best way to ensure you do not block much damage.

It’s worth a shot. Sometimes you come away with a huge play, other times you don’t. Kinda comes back to the fact that Rein relies heavily on game sense and sniffing out opportunity. Just sometimes those opportunities are opportunities to die. Lol

Psychological warfare.

It’s called force your team to go in because they freaking spam the choke and waste the shield for no reason like a bunch of idiots.
In all seriousness, if I get pocket, I can literally make 1 or 2 shatter every fights and that’s good, the supports can also get ult charge. It’s called making play instead of being a shield bot. Sometimes you drop the shield to not let the enemies team break it to save it for thing like dead eyes, visor, Dva bomb or especially shatter. There are a lot of things about Rein but people who don’t play them don’t know anything, I suicidal charge sometimes in qp because people keep falling back in a 6v6 games and the duo 1 support 1 dps with the stupid personal pocket.
There are several occasions you do the charge, 1 they don’t have shatter and something dumb and you have it.
2 to initiate the fight first and hoping your team can capitalise and hope for the charge work if your team is at a big disadvantage of ultimates (like you used grav dragon last fight and knowing them have grav dragon this fight - then you may need to position yourself to make it work) or momentum (situational, if it didn’t work, it’s suicidal, if it work, well, you either force them to use more resources or straight up win the fight with ultimate disadvantages).
Sometimes you charge straight into Hanamura 2nd point just to force people off the high ground if you team keep going upper right and get destroy over and over…
And everyone can make mistakes, even the best Rein in the game, you see top 500 Rein play like a bot sometimes because making decisions aren’t the exactly easy thing to do, especially you have to protect people behind you but sometimes you didn’t realise they fall back for no reason or busy with some random fights and you just fk up.
Sometimes, people die because of the shield randomly drop if I know their Rein has shatter (well, if the shield break, it is pretty much a guarantee lost if their Rein is not an idiot or your team being smart), I would need to save my shield and rather take some hits but sometimes my position isn’t optimal to hide beside we have to contest them.

If you don’t feel like you’re feeding when playing Rein, you’re playing way too passively :smirk:

Spamming a+d with your shield up at a choke does nothing!

IT WAS WORTH IT!

Your shield is a tool used to push through chokes. You’re suppose to press and hold W. Not A or D.

I did something similar last night on Mystery Heroes but that’s because I accidentally pressed the wrong button. I meant to fire strike and instead charged into the entire enemy team where I got melted. Rip
