I was low bronze in both support and tank, so rather than slug it out for months I got a new account and went up to silver in tank and gold in support.
Sometimes it seems like its good to just start over

You just took the easy way
And people still deny the shortcomings of the ranking system. Some people arenât where they belong, and are genuinely held back by team mates and a faulty SR/MMR system. Youâd think that the recent incident where âexpertâ players were ranked Gold would wake people up to see how it truly thinks their skills should be placed without any handicaps, but nope, they still think Blizzard can do no wrong.
Elo hell is real. Donât @ me
See what happens after you play a bunch of games. Thatâs the only way to really know.
New placements usually put people at least mid gold unless things went really bad.
It shouldnât make a different what account youâre on. More reason for people to use ONLY ONE account. Its placebo, Iâm telling you.
Is the difference between bronze and silver worth of buying new account?
Its not like he made it from Bronze to Masters, he made it from below average to below average.
well, maybe it was a temporary thing, and you are not quite ready for that rank?
literally everyone placed in gold, that wouldve made games for genuine gold players AWFUL for weeks⌠do you see the problem? it would have been a battle of which team had more pro players, and then the winning team would progress into platinum while the losing 2+ pro players would have to queue again. big problem
He jumped up one to two ranks. Thatâs pretty significant in and of itself. But if you want to talk about bigger jumps, why donât we talk about the time when the match making system gave an unweighted assessment of Master ranked players and places them in GOLD. No one wants to talk about that time except to damage control how damning the truth is about how poor the match making service is.
Nope. There were reports that other players who were ranked in Gold in prior season got ranked in Diamond when the scale wasnât weighted. Of course THEY want everyone to believe that the server had some âglitchâ that magically gave everyone a 2250 rank, but the truth is it was all over the spectrum. Some got placed where they always were, people in high ranks dropped, and people in lower ranks were placed in higher ranks.
We donât talk about that because it was pretty clearly a bug? Iâve made several new accounts and never been placed gold except for the very first time I ever played the game. Why would people significantly better than me get placed there all of a sudden?
It was pretty distinctly a bug, not them âremoving their conspiracy from the matchmaker and finally allowing us to see that all of their pretty faces they inflate on twitch arenât truly as good as they think they areâ.
And of course YOU want everyone to believe it wasnât a âglitchâ because how else do you sell your narrative that the matchmaker is flawed and holding you back.
This guy made an account and was placed low. Then he got better over time, and rather than trying to climb (which takes a lot of time, trust me) he bought a new account. This new account was then placed around where his new skill-level was, and he lived happily ever after because he didnât have to spend upwards of 15 hours climbing.
Itâs no different than any other system. If you suddenly, or even gradually, improve while at your rank youâll eventually climb, but it takes time. You can always circumvent that by just buying the game again, but if youâd put in enough time and effort youâd have gotten there anyways.
its impossible to place below 1500 on a new account
Play one hundred games and then come back and report please.
Look at his level,
those kind of players are the biggest issue in this game. He is a level 31 which means he played 6 levels in comp mode.
He played at least 5 games on tank and support (eacht) in order to get placed and both are roles which allow you to get placed in gold rather easy if you avoid certain heroes.
The MM requires a lot of time/matches in order to place you correctly, thatâs how the algorithm functions since it is a relative skill system which requires comparisons.
Until he is placed correctly, he will be messing up a bunch of matches for a lot of people. Just like climbing, dropping requires you to be consistently worse than other players in your rank.
In the worst case he might have somewhat decent decent stats on a certain hero, yet no real impact which would inflate his rank on top of that due to PBSR.
You honestly think some âbugâ just gave everyone the exact same rank? Youâd actually have to write a line of code that explicitly hands that value out instead of performing whatever evaluation measures itâs supposed to do. But again, like I said, people scored ranks all over the place. Thereâs no âconspiracyâ that Iâm claiming, that you would most certainly love to straw man as a cheap, cowardly way of discrediting my argument. What Iâm saying is that the match maker sucks. It canât tell the difference between a Bronze and Diamond as well as most people claim. And you personally can claim whatever about your ranks of supposed new accounts, but itâs the internet. People can write whatever. What I do know is that objectively, the match maker in the waking moments of Season 18 did not use the MMR anchor to balloon specific ranks up. In fact, this anchor effect was put in place many seasons ago because many players wound up placing two to three ranks higher than where they ended up last season, and vice versa. Higher tiered players complained that they had to work to get to their ranks again instead of having it just handed to them on a silver platter, and that those âpeasantâ players are unworthy of being judged evenly in the next season. And so, Blizzard openly RIGGED the match maker to keep crybabies satisfied. Again, not a conspiracy when many facts are publicly known and the main problem lies within the serverâs evaluation of player skill.
Lol I never claimed this. So nice of you to try and shoehorn me into a label that you want to craft so you can use whatever persona you imagine as a means to discredit what Iâve laid out.
You are not held by system or team mates. It shock me that after 4 years people believe that. And how they still dont know that new accounts are placing too high usualy. He will drop backâŚ
Expert players werent placed gold because of their skill rofl. They placed there because it acted like sr/mmr reset, system had noo data on anyone . Just mistake omg, stop using it as example⌠Come on
Yeah that isnât what that means. You donât need to explicitly write anything, bugs like that could in theory be as simple as a single line being commented out.
You have absolutely no idea what youâre talking about.
Thatâs literally what the root of the word conspiracy means. Everyone says one thing, you say something else. You claim theyâre wrong because you know more.
No, that isnât my means of discrediting you. Thatâs me mocking you. Also, it isnât really shoehorning you into anything. Quit trying to use big words that you donât understand, and take a highschool debate class.
Also, this dude recently made a post about him losing a bunch of SR and falling back to his previous rank. So much for your theory of the system being wrong. Put him right back where he belongs.
Donât be do disingenuous to try and support your stance.
You know that was due to the system not taking past MMR into account. It was fixed and players were back to their normal level.
Hey all, its very possible I am not ready for these levels. I am just bringing this up more out interest than anything else. I bet there are people out there grinding in their rank and they actually deserve to be a higher level.
That said, if I am not ready for these levels then it will certainly hurt the players on my team, but that is the way the system is built. The game play in gold support is far better than bronze so I am hoping to stay there.
For the cost of 20 bucks, yeah I think its worth it to wipe the slate clean and try again. I may even do it again in a few months or so. Its a shame Blizzard doesnât give you the option to start over on PC. They probably want my cash. lol.
