Hey guys, opening a thread to gather opinions of people which were actually happy with the dev update. I have already noticed a lot of people complaining about it, but I don’t think it is a bad dev update honestly. After so long time dedicated to the OWL and to the social features it is good to see that there is a strong commitment to balancing/reworking/QoL improvements coming up!
The thing a lot of people complain about is the fact that there will be the same event for Halloween, but I agree with most other people said, that at the end of the day this is a PvP game and so the focus should be on that side.
Torb rework looks amazing as well, looking forward trying out that ultimate!
Any thoughts guys??

I think most people are happy with what is changed.
I think most are upset with what wasn’t changed
I’m unfazed with what the dev update is bringing. But I’d like to see what the minor changes are for the heros.
I definitely appreciate dev updates. I liked this one.
I’m not a Torbjorn player (and frankly, I don’t like him), so I know my view on the update itself is skewed. I enjoyed it, though.
They provided some clarity on a number of things - such as why they don’t communicate updates right away, where their focus is as a team, etc.

i mean they said what theyre working on…and what their focus is…its what a dev update should be no?
waiting/eager to see the patch note balance changes
Yes if I have to be honest the only thing that they could have added was a couple of sentences on Mercy maybe, just to at least let them know if they are thinking of a small tweaking or not
I’m really happy with it. Hopefully Torbjörn is a lot more viable now.
The only thing I was really “disappointed” with is the fact that Junkenstein’s Revenge is gonna stay pretty much the same however I don’t care enough to the point to complain about because the PVE and Cosmetics of the event are on the same caliber to me

Instead of partaking in the catty and immature behavior of mocking Mercy mains for their hero not being mentioned in the update, I will agree with you OP. I think the rework for Torb is quite exciting. I do have some concerns about it though (namely the removal of the scrap system), but I can’t deny that I am overall curious to see how viable he will be after the rework.
I’m also curious as to see which other heroes will be getting changes in the patch notes. If I recall he mentioned McCree and Pharah and said there are a lot more heroes getting some changes. I wonder what they will be!

I’m happy with this direction shift. It takes away the anticipation and subsequent let-down from lackluster events. It also detracts from the tendency for big inflation/deflation of players around event time, in efforts to try to keep a thriving year-round community. As someone who’s been playing since launch and already has one foot out the door, I hope they follow up on this new direction and focus on making this game a more enjoyable experience for the majority player base.
I’m also really happy with them bringing improved color blind options to us.

I think they added a lot of BS into the dev update. I don’t feel as though it was what the game needed. Overwatch will definitely die if they keep this up.
Why do we still not have the third social feature? At least give a hint FFS. Idk what they think they’re accomplishing by giving zero insight to upcoming changes. What about competitive? Are we ever going to see that get changes? I keep getting in poor quality games still, with people who are clearly not good at what they’re playing. (The typical player who goes doom and never swaps even though they are feeding and we have 3 dps). every game I feel like I’m figuring out a puzzle because everyone goes dps. Hence why for the 2nd season in a row I dropped 500 SR after reaching diamond.
It was good. There’s obviously a much longer list of issues with the game, but they’re not going to address everything at once, and this is a noticeable step in the right direction. It might even be enough that I’ll start playing again, depending on how well some of the changes turn out.
In particular, this update addresses two of the first problems I noticed when I first tried Overwatch (which was shortly after Sombra’s release):
- Pharah requires a much higher skill level to counter than to play effectively, and it’s only feasible to do so with a few specific characters.
- Colorblind mode is simultaneously useless and ugly.
More recently, Brigitte exists now. While I don’t agree with trying to solve problems by building new things on top of them (which might just become bigger problems, like Brigitte herself), at least the lava squirt gun might be kind of an answer to her.

At least they do it. I play a bunch of other games where they don’t say a damn thing for a year. Looking at you capcom.
