Yesterday I was playing a few QP games and suddenly my account was banned. In the email, they informed the cause was “hacks”, but I’ve never used a hack in my life. I mean, I don’t even play Competitive, just Arcade and QP. I don’t play DPS, I usually play Tanks, sometimes Support. Why would I ever cheat for no stakes games?
I bought this game on pre-order. I’ve been a faithful fan for 4 years (even more, I’m a fan since the first trailer). I was very excited for OW2, I watched OWL since Season 1, I spent hundreds, maybe thousands of $ on lootboxes to get all cosmetics.
And now I’ve got banned for a crime I didn’t commit. Support says they revised my case, but the penalty is final. I don’t kow what they revised, because it’s all too vague.
I fell betrayed. I am outraged. My dedication to this game was rewarded with a kick in the butt without any explanation. If I don’t get my account back, Blizzard can say goodbye to my money forever.

The ban wave has been killing it lately.

This is the like 2nd thread I’ve seen in the past couple days with basically this same exact message. Blizz must’ve done another ban wave. They all claimed innocence ofc.

Interesting there is like 3 or 4 of these threads now. Sounds like a wave just happened

Bye.
The games you ruin when you cheat aren’t worth the cash you spend.

Ban wave assumedly. Hope Jeff comes here and smites you with a “It was warranted” comment.

And if you are, then I hope you get your account back. I feel like everyone is entitled to a fair review.
But I have my doubts because a ban wave just hit and a lot of “innocent” people then came out the woodwork about their bans. And I know from experience almost all of them are full of poop emojis.

I know how it sounds. I felt exactly the same as you guys the previous ban waves. As I said, believe me or don’t. I thought it would never happen to me because I am a honest player and don’t cheat. But it did, so Inow realized sometimes innocent people are punished injustly. This time it was me, next time maybe you…

OP has the ring of truth. I’d say what’s happening is some kind of software is triggering Blizz’s anticheat, but not necessarily an actual cheat.

Well I know Valorant’s anti-cheat system has supposedly triggered false positives for some people. I wonder what all programs OP has

I wonder if OP has Valorant installed?

He’s not. He won’t.
Bans like this aren’t automated. A GM investigated him and saw him doing things he wasn’t supposed to.

Didnt you read?
They reviewed his appeal and denied it. They are clearly lying!!!

There’s are a couple of things i want to add to this topic.
The ban wave is real BUT the big players in Overwatch cheat development were able to release working cheats within the first 6 days after the update.
However, the last update seems to cause a bit of trouble for smaller cheat developers. That’s great.
Blizzard’s Anticheat uses mechanisms that theoretically can be triggered by non-cheat software. The exact subsequent verification process is of course unknown.
However, there have been cases where no special program was found, but an account was banned on suspicion.
The best known example is probably the following
Really take a look at the video and think about how upset you would be if you were unjustifiably and permanently banned from the game.
