I want to collect loot boxes!!!
Why do they open automatically?
Let us collect as many boxes as we want and open them whenever we choose.

If someone already has everything, what’s left for them? Collecting boxes.

UPVOTE for Blizzard to keep the loot boxes at the end of every season and allow us to collect as many as we want.

It’s part of the limited-time everything policy of OW2.
Everything has an expiration date.

Few reasons behind this lootboxes strategy:

  1. The monetization of OW2 is ever changing. They have no interest in letting people stockpile boxes, because they can change their value in the future. They want to be able to have a fresh start whenever they introduce a new system.
  2. They don’t want boxes to be a currency for the future. They want players to start each season from scratch, so that whenever they add new cosmetics, the only way to get them is to either pay real money or grind for them.
    Having a big pile of boxes will make the player feel confident about unlocking the cosmetic next season without the need to pay or grind.

This is unfortunately the monetization philosophy of modern gaming. No longer about freedom of customization and choice. Everyone has to follow a very specific path that maximizes the interest of the gaming studio, all under the pretext of being “free” and “optional”.
