A big part of Sombra’s game that was always overlooked was her amazing ability to contest objectives while invisible. I’ve definitely won many games on defense because of this. With it gone it feels like a clutch part of her kit is missing. Would it be too much to ask for her to be able to contest while invisible only for the amount of time she used to be able to? I think it was 5 seconds. After this time is up she would have to come out of stealth to contest.
What they’ve done to her is just awful. Infinite invis is the root of all her new mechanical issues. I understand that infinite invis + contesting wouldn’t be fair, but I’d rather they just reverted to the 6 second fast invis. The best way to get value out of her these days is to basically assassinate and spawn camp the supports which I’m 100% sure is not what they intended. I miss old sombra when you could actually play with your team and your value relied on mechanical skill and strategy instead of just jumping supports out of invis
I think she still takes more strategic planning than any other dps because you need to combo emp with other ults for best value. Hack too is so valuable and needs follow up. But stalling objectives was that one time where sombra could be the one who shines and now that’s gone
There’s an art to getting good value emps with a garbage team who isn’t using coms. Mainly involves just spamming ULTIMATE READY and herding your team like sheep. But you’re right, stalling was a very important facet of her kit, even just as a panic pick in the last few seconds of a round.
Sombra is just a less fun hero overall now, and we aren’t going to get the old Sombra back because pros play her now, and that seems to be all that matters. I still like playing Sombra occasionally, but I hate the streamlined and predictable hero she’s become. And yes, I miss point capturing in Stealth as well!
She’s less predictable if anything.
I don’t see how she was previously good at stalling when you can just spray in a random direction on point and she’d get revealed.
There are plenty of spots to stall that the enemy can’t just spray and see you. On the high ground above point B of Volskaya is the best one. You can youtube sombra stall spots. It was fun watching the confusion in the enemies faces
Sombra’s infinite cloak and translocator makes things kind of boring. Feels like her kit is basically saying just camp into you see someone is at low health or go after their supports before they can escape and rush out soon as things get dicey. Just so much waiting but there isn’t anything rewarding at the end just waiting for easy kills.
Stalling with Mei is bad enough.
Infinite Stealth and Translocator times only put more emphasis on playing around a health pack, and lowered the more creative playstyle that her time limits demanded. You had to be creative with who you attacked and when, while now you have all the time I the world to set up. Basically Sombra is reduced to being an assassin that primarily focuses on stalking support until they get low on health. It’s completely predictable and very boring.
Jeff thought that most Sombras didnt even know they could contest the payload, so its fine.
The game should have less stall cheese, not more.
I want Sombra to be more powerful than most other DPS, im sick of seeing others taking the spot of TOP DPS PICKS of the season, I want Sombra to be a hero thats able to get easy value no matter the circumstance. Why can other heroes be allowed to be in the top spot in their roll for so long but Sombra and other heroes get the shaft?
No I dont want balance anymore. Wanting and asking for reasonable balance get us these current Sombra changes, I want buffs, serious buffs that put her up top, I want to take 2 steps forward for Sombras value gain and have them take a step back for her like so many other heros, I dont want this pathetic crawl that they pretend to be a skip of a change, I want a massive leap.
I also want this for Bastion and Torb, and im sick of people compromising with a dev team too cowardly to admit their mistakes and make sweeping changes for some heroes but no regards for the quality of gameplay with others, and you know who I f’in mean.
No more “pwease bwizzurd pwease, gives us bwead cwumbs”
sick of it
“Give me a f’in steak.”
So i guess remove contest for Reaper while i wraith, Meis cryo freeze and Zens transcendence?
Yes.
That feels heavily unfair because you are on point but you cant contest. I dont know if this makes the game better. Removing clutch plays makes the game more exciting imo.
Its overtime, you know you cant reach the point unless you use your ability, but it doesnt help because you cant contest anyways so you stay in spawn and give up.
I wouldn’t really consider you “on” the point if you’re invincible. I wouldn’t really say it’s exciting when you win a team fight but an enemy comes out of spawn to touch the point with not much you can do to stop them for the rest of their team to keep fighting.
You can body block, ice wall or simply kill them as they trickle in. There is counterplay.
But just imagine this scenario. Its overtime on defense on point. Youre Reaper and you have a teammate on Tracer on point to contest, so they dont capture the point. The Tracer needed to use blink to avoid a D.Va bomb and is no longer on point. So as Reaper you only have the choice of dying and lose the point, or use wraith and c9. Is that fair?
Yes. Using an ult to clear the point should only be countered with another ult. There comes a point where there is simply too much stall and too much CC present… Which is why 2CP has become a huge nightmare.
