Well, I’m a level 70 bronze
I’d prefer the AI turrets gone over bastion lol.
explains a lot (6 chars)
anyways playing against bastion is actually the most boring thing in Overwatch. I’d rather have GOATS than bastion. Bastion should only be viable if he gets a full rework

Openly admit to throwing/leaving on Overwatch forums.
-
Expect people to give them what they want.
Yeah, this was a bad idea.
The only reason that’s such a problem is bastion is such a free kill without being in sentry.
Let recon have the same 20% Ironclad that sentry mode has and that’s all the “rework” you need to do.
Sentry is still countered but it’s not a feast or famine any more.
Then why aren’t you suggesting instead that bastion be moved to the tank category? No other major changes except ironclad in recon and an E-ability that buffs allies like gives them temporary shield-HP.
Then Bastion could at most have only a single barrier.
Barriers suck now, if your entire team can’t remove a single barrier then the problem isn’t the game, the problem is you’re throwing. You’ve decided to give up because the problem seems hard but it really isn’t hard.
Nope.
Just because Rocket Punch interacts with Rein’s charge doesn’t mean it’s the same thing. Many things interact with Rein Charge, it’s just a simple list.
Rocket Punch applies a knockback effect, as in it applies a movement force and sentry has the root effect: they cannot be moved.
I’m not saying that as a knock against the character. Bastion being rooted against doom punch is fine.
This is a myth, actually.
His pickrate reached a historic low of 0% during double shield.
Kinda funny, isn’t it.
Because bastion only benefits from double barrier on paper.
In reality it’s fails because you’re “putting all your eggs in one basket” the entire enemy team has an obvious single point to focus on breaking and when they do the entire comp instantly dissolves and gets totally rolled.
Of course if the enemy team is full of friends who agree with each other and decide to throw as soon as they don’t get immediate gratification then it’ll work but ANYTHING works against a team that throws and leaves early.
which was kind of weird cause at the height of Double Shield bastion was a must pick on all payload maps in pro OW play.
That was some boring a** gameplay I gotta tell you.
R u sirius brah? I can’t tell if you are trolling or not tbh, I’ve lost my touch thanks to this forums.
His turret form in the lore is dumb anyways.
Take the part from the Bastion short where theres a flashback to the crusaders fighting the bastions. You mean to tell me that the omnic crisis was a slow moving wall of Bastions constantly going turret form, going recon to move a few inches, then going turret again? Why didn’t the cities just bomb them? Would make more sense if they were in tank form all the time.
They said that about Mercy too, so I’m not too hopeful.
And i want fried chicken. Looks like we ain’t getting what we want
He is oppressive at lower rank, which is where you were playing if you were having an issue.
He’s meh at middle rank
And he’s not worth the pick at high rank.
Rework
Yes.
Not a few inches, while half the bastions sentry shot for 10 seconds the other half run forward in sentry mode about 50m.
That’s exactly how every army uses their machine guns, they take about 1 second to set up then they rain down firepower that destroys the enemy or forces them to duck so they can’t shoot at the half that’s maneuvering.
That’s true for both tripod mounted heavy machine guns and light machine guns fired from a bipod. Many light machine guns are effectively impossible to fire unless you stop and go prone, there’s nowhere to hold the machine gun without burning yourself on the hot barrel/gas-tube and the bipod legs are so short you must lay prone to use them.
This system is very flexible, depending on how much firepower you need you may have a larger or smaller proportion of the attackers move at a time. You can trade speed for firepower.
Same reason they don’t “just bomb” every machine gun in WW2. Artillery has a flight time measured in minutes, long enough for the bastions to have all moved of from where you were targeting.
When Sombra had the lowest win rate, AND pick rate of any hero in ALL ranks, they still nerfed her.
Do NOT underestimate the dev team
From the words of Jeff:
“We will NOT be removing Bastion from Overwatch 2”
So unfortunately for you, this “Hero” is here to stay.
Also… “I want” doesn’t get. Jeff isn’t gonna magically come online, assure you that it’s okay, remove or nerf Bastion just for you. Learn what Hero you can play to counter him until he can no longer play and has to switch, or learn how your Hero can work around him.
Like tred said.
Not to mention do you realize the size of the bastion wall? Look at the animated short again - they outnumbered the battlefield by at least 10:1.
One Bastion in sentry mode is enough to make people cry ‘op’. Imagine having 5 of them in sentry mode aiming their cross hair on you.
And of course there are plenty of other combat units exist during Omnic Crisis besides Bastion, like say a particular unit that almost took out Reinhardt with a stylish energy sword.
I suppose a case could be made that having tank form as a timed ultimate is hindering Bastion’s overall performance and adaptability.
If Bastion is meant to ‘adapt to changes and shift forms to counter and suit needs’, accessibility to all 3 forms at any point in time as needed is fundamental.
I like the idea that we can shift between recon/sentry/tank modes at any time and anywhere, but that also means some fundamental design/rework might be required - because obviously being able to sit in current tank mode 24/7 will be way too much.
As someone who plays Bastion, I could give you tips on things to do because they make Bastion struggle.
Roadhog is phenomenal at fighting Bastion. His high damage bursts wreck barriers, and then just hook thr Bastion away from the safety of it’s team and have your team focus him down. Not even Self-Repair will save him.
D.Va can make quick work of Bastion as well. Use your Boosters plus Matrix to close the distance, then use Missiles plus primary fire and burn through his health. Only use your bomb after enemy barriers are destroyed. It’s harder for Bastion to run away because he has to get up before he can move.
Reaper can teleport to high ground and drop down on Bastion, the massive damage and life steal making him tricky to kill, especially if you get the jump on him. Just remember to Wraith out of there if you need to escape.
Junkrat is also a good pick because his high damage bursting grenades do lots of damage over time. Considering Bastion is mostly a stationary target, it’s typically as easy as lining up your shot, and shooting. If they’re quick, they’ll likely still be hit by two grenades and have to reposition, giving your team an opportunity to push against a highly vulnerable and injured Bastion. Oh, and another great trick with Junkrat is if your healers are too far away and you’re trapped in their backlines and almost dead, throw yourself at their bunker. Die on top of as many enemies as you can manage.
A major tip is shield-break. Once the shields are down, it basically renders Bastion helpless. Abilities such as Sigma’s rock, Hog’s hook, Junk’s grenades, Hanzo’s arrow CD (forgot the name), Echo’s sticky’s, and basically any long-range dmg available to quickly take down the bastion.
Or the easiest, least brain-hurting solution - Genji.
I’ve lost count how many Bastion’s died to Genji’s Deflection from not letting go of their fire button.
