I wanna quit but can't

Start doing something else? When i wad new to ow i literally played non-stop 24/7 and i felt how much it really affected me mentally, so i just decided to quit and take a break for a while and i started doing other stuff. Like start watching a tv show or movies.

And after i stopped playing 24/7 the game became for fun for me and i could enjoy it more.

So maybe just take a break for a few hours then come back and play? Start doing that every day and i’m sure it will get better

Learn some new skill, I’m trying the Odin project ruby track for fun.

Or try building a linux distro from scratch or maybe do some carpenting or gardening projects something feasible for you.

Play QP for the fun of it.

Last night I got a Zen PotG for trancing our Rein as he yolo’d the point in OT, and getting 2 kills. Got a Ball PotG where the enemy Rein hammered my entire team on the point, I slammed him so he whiffed the follow up flamestrike, mined the point so he died as he pushed onto hit, my mines killed the Junkrat’s riptire and I shot the Junk in the head, and then I booped Genji off the point for the win.

And that’s not even counting the Pharah fun.

Overwatch is still a ton of fun. Every day.

Yes. It’s far too easy to reinstall though and only takes half an hour to download… It’s not the loot boxes or skins. For me it’s lose one comp game and I have to play another to make up the SR, lose that too and I have to play two more etc. My brain finds this super addictive it seems. To the point where yes, I do hate the game, but I have to keep playing so that the time I’ve already spent on it isn’t “wasted” :frowning:

I don’t know. Some surely, but I know by bad decision making they can’t be like Masters.

The unfortunate part is that there’s not many games that are like it other than maybe paladins, but now that I’m used to the Polish on OverWatch a game like paladin just seems so lame, even if it might have good gameplay I don’t know I haven’t really played it that much.

Stuff like Apex is just not as easy unique character wise they only have like one special ability and it’s minorly impactful with OverWatch you have a bunch of impactful abilities but that’s also a reason why you rely on people a lot. I know what you mean though the only game that it’s got in me off of a OverWatch is Mass effect, but that’s a single player game and it’s kind of limited in replayability even though it has pretty high replayability for a single player game and was awesome.

Sounds like it’s time move on. At least halo infinite is dropping soon. But hey if you are looking to quit playing now is the most morally acceptable time to do so.

Bro it’ss because you like this game… that is where the frustration comes from. Without that passion for the title you wouldn’t be disappointed or even care about your performance or wanting to improve.

If you truly didn’t care you’d be indifferent and would’ve easily moved on to a new game by now.

My tip is to try and make friends. If you don’t currently play with any friends, the first one or two could be tricky. But once you break past that 2-3 person threshold, then other people will notice the fun you’re having and will want to group up. That is assuming you get in team chat and show them you’re not abrasive or anything.

That is what helped me and I can honestly say that my friends are the reason I still play this game. We usually have a 5-6stack going and there are some nights where we have so many friends on what we can do a full on 6v6. Now THAT is fun, when you’re in a game where you know every other player.

Just start small and work your way up and I guarantee you’ll start having more fun.

I’ve tried to quit often. I finally filled in the forms to ask Blizzard to delete my accounts. In the comments box I explained that I am addicted to the game even though I do not enjoy it at all any more and that it is bad for my mental health to keep playing.

And what did Blizzard do? They sent an email giving me 10 days to click a button to cancel the deletion of the accounts. That’s like sending an alcoholic that says he wants to quit a bottle of whisky and saying someone will take it away from you in 10 days if you don’t open it.

I’m currently dealing with a lawyer on a different unrelated matter, but I’ve thought about asking him about this as I’m pretty sure the EU has very strict regulation around gambling/addiction and the fact I explained to Blizz my addiction and the health impact I feel it is having, yet they still gave me 10 days to cancel (which obviously I did because I am addicted). I’d expect there is legal action that can be taken against Blizz in Europe around this behaviour.

I cancelled my support ticket before I even got a reply from them :frowning:

Deleting the account means you can still buy the game again if you’re an addict.

So you still need self-control.

You could’ve just uninstalled the client completely, battlenet included. Even change the password to a random string you can’t remember to make it have several steps.

Or even sell it to get something in return for your monetary/time investment.

Deleting your account is probably the worst outcome as you’re saying you have no self-control and need to be regulated by others. Take your life in your own hands…

sounds like an addiction lol

Yes, study how addiction works. These games have been tailor made to use your body’s processes against you. Almost every aspect of this game is built around your brain and your body’s reward system. Developers have even codified this sort of manipulation into a codified system with rules and laws. It’s the same reason why McDonald’s has sold literally trillions of instances of their products. But instead of precisely crafting fat, salt, protein and sugar in such a way that keeps people coming back, developers rely on the science of your brain’s rewards systems to keep you playing.

So here’s the steps to stop playing:

A) read up on how games addict people. Once you understand how this game is hooking you, you can acknowledge once and for all that you’re not playing because you enjoy it, but because the game is manipulating your brain’s reward system to keep you playing.

B) Uninstall the game and find a replacement activity. Your time and energy is going to have to go into something else, so identify what those things are beforehand, and remove any temptation to play the game by uninstalling while you develop an interest in those things.

C) read up on how others have quit their gaming addictions and choose a course of action that works for you

Unistall the game. Don’t play any video games. Go out and hang out with your friends. Come back to it a month after. Make a commitment to it tho. If you go back in that month, nothing will help u to quit the game. You are just too attached to the game rn but we all been there. After that month tho play a different game. Then come back to it after that month of playing a different game and lets see if you can enjoy the game like u first did.

Easy delete the game… You wont be missing much

ah yes the sunk cost fallacy. to get over that you could delete your account and block the bizzard sites so you cant redownload the game

Your brain just doesnt want to believe there is something that can make you feel better than OW.

Have some self control. If your frontal lobe wants to quit, uninstall the game and immediately start looking for something else to do. Don’t let the ape brain run you.

For me, I started playing a few other games and realized there was ALOT of fun stuff out there. After Blizzard announced 5v5 I never played again. I needed a catalyst to really cement it. Find your catalyst. For me, it was 5v5.

Next find a reason why you never want to come back. For me, it was Buffing ALL dps movemnet speed. I’ll never touch the game again lol.

Focus on improvement.
Focus on fundamentals.
Stop focusing on others.
Focus on others to play for the team.

Otherwise, just literally give up if you’re too toxic for team games.
Your team is not your competition, play for them.

I love and hate this game at the same time…idk why. Maybe the lack of content? Poor Balncing? I’ve been with the game for so long I can’t quit it now.

Yes you can. Believe in your dreams.
