And I still don’t like round based elimination games. Overwatch is better for me. It’s much more dynamic, whereas Valorant is more about the gun you select than the hero or their abilities.
Yeah, this is my main gripe with Valorant. I fell in love with Overwatch because of it’s unique approach to point-based gamemodes and how dynamic and fluid games can be. Sure, as a consequence you have things like trickling but those lows are matched with the highs of well coordinated teamfights and Ultimate combos. This isn’t to say I don’t think Valorant will suck up a significant portion of Overwatch’s DPS players, I just don’t think its the spiritual successor to Overwatch that I still think is inevitible.
Valorant is CS:GOverwatch. Which is not something that everyone will enjoy.
I love Valorant myself, but Overwatch has more consistent and mental gameplay that I enjoy more.
I’ll probably just play both.
What all boils down to. What type of game you (as the individual) prefer.
Valorant is interesting. But I find it to be a very slow paced game for lightning fast encounters. So I need to move around slowly and carefully, camp, and pause a lot… But with lightning quick movements during an encounter… No thanks.
I could see the appeal, but for me… Pass.
Ehh I might give it another go when their anticheat stops lagging my other games but IME it’s csgo but more annoying and somehow more devoid of personality. Even for round based objective team gameplay I strongly prefer siege. Fighting my own gun and the economy more than the enemy team just isn’t fun, even if I can actually do it.
Both are surprisingly fun to watch tho.
People who don’t like CS:Go aren’t gonna like Valorant.
I tried it and didn’t like it. I didn’t like how the map made me feel restricted. The kind of feeling I have when playing 2CP maps, which is my least favorite map type.
The pace is different. Overwatch is fast while Valorant is very slow, though the match can feel fast because no respawn.
I donno. I’m gonna give it a spin every now and then and see if I develop a taste for it.
Valorant isn’t great to watch imo. I would much rather watch Kabaji wreck shop. Siege is totally watchable though. It’s got a tension appeal CSGO doesn’t have.
I’ll try it again, too. I did clutch a couple of rounds, which felt nice. But the action per minute during a game was less than my impact during an Overwatch game. But I don’t have to wait 6 to 12 minutes in queue to play Valorant.
Valorant did a nice job of adding abilities to the CS:GO format, but yeah I am on the same page as you. Not the game for me. Even more so than round based (I used to enjoy Quake: Rocket Arena) I can’t stand the instant death no matter what you play.
Yeah, not liking round-based elimination FPS games is the reason I originally left CS:Source for TF2 back in like 2008.
Definitely not my thing.
The better comparison I’ve seen is it’s CS:GO…Apex Legends (not as catchy, but more accurate).
Apex has the gun play of CS:GO with abilities but in the BR format, and they basically ported that to “plant the bomb” round based format of CS:GO.
There’s really not a ton of similarities with OW other than there’s people you can pick who can use abilities. Pretty lame comparison.
Forums Pre-Valorant: “Valorant is everything Overwatch is not, which makes it better by default. It’s already the superior game, and we’re all going to leave OW!”
Forums Post-Valorant: “Turns out Valorant being everything Overwatch isn’t makes it less fun for us Overwatch players…'Scuse me while I log back into OW.”
I consider Overwatch to be the start of the whole “abilities in shooters” thing, therefore through my reasoning I said Valorant was just Overwatch + CS:GO instead of Overwatch with CS:GO gunplay (Apex) + CS:GO’s gamemode.
Problem is it’s not that easy.
They already tried to introduce the first hero focused on damage abilities (Raze) and it immediately got HUGE back lash from all the “pros” in Valorant (many being former OW “pros”).
You think they are going to have an easy time adding more unique abilties let alone ENTIRE NEW GAME MODES?
It’s Riot – they’ve never really been able to evolve from League of Legends Summoner’s Rift single map. They’ve tried a ton of other things and they’ve all tanked. I don’t have high faith.
Ripoff games are not my cup of tea be original please
yea the game isnt for anyone just people who like round based elimination games. in the future there will prob be a deathmatch mode so you might be into that. tbh hero and abilities matter a lot but i think it’s more of a high rank type thing. kind of like how OW meta is really important in high ranks. same thing with csgo. flash and smokes are whatever but in high ranks you tend to need good smokes to and flashes to even compete.
you must hate overwatch since this is pretty much a ripoff of tf2.
Overwatch is unique sure it’s INSPIRED by tf2 not a total ripoff like Valorant
It’s not a ripoff it’s more of a mish mash. A very weird kinda of mish mash. Don’t enjoy it either but here it is and some people really think it’s gonna “kill” overwatch. The only thing that can kill ow at this point, is ow itself, so good luck valorant the game that is gonna fade in the background literally months after its release.
Wanna talk about junkrat, mercy and widowmaker???
