I tried so many things yet I still can't maintain high fps :(

Hello,

I’m really frustrated, I have tried so many things to keep my fps in overwatch over 180 fps but no matter what it’ll always drop to 100-110 and it really kills me especially in comp I think most of you will know how fps-drops ruins the gameplay, I see streamers with specs worse than me yet they stream + play on the same pc while keeping 200+ fps no problem, same thing with my friend he has worse specs but more stable performance, like most people with this problem I obviously maintain a stable 250 fps easy on practice range but I have no idea why it can’t stay over 160 and it keeps dropping to 110 in comp ( lower fps makes the game stutter + raises input lag )

some of the things I tried :

  • switching from single channel ram to dual channel

  • upgrading from a GTX 1070 to a GTX 1080ti

  • swapping from a 1440p monitor to a 1080p monitor

  • disabling full-screen optimization

  • disabling or closing apps like chrome while playing

  • my settings have always been all low + 100% scale (still drops with 75% scale so there’s no point)

  • maximum performance on Nvidia control panel

  • updated bios recently

  • updated GPU drivers to the latest

  • closing the battle.net launcher while playing

  • even tho my GPU and CPU never crossed 70c, I still got a bigger case with much more airflow and more fans, now my temps never cross 55c-60c

  • OC mode on GPU

  • disabled game mode, Xbox DVR and most of these crappy features a long time ago

  • kept checking for a fix in the Overwatch forums and Reddit but no luck yet

  • tried switching fps caps to something stable like 280>250,200>180 nothing worked…

maybe forgot about some things but that’s almost all

my pc specs -

intel core i7 6700

Gigabyte GTX 1080ti

16GB DDR4 2400MHz (dual channel)

( I know people with worse specs and no issues and people with better specs who have this issue)

I really need your help I’ve had this issue for too long now and I can’t seem to fix it myself

if you can help me I’d be thankful

have a nice day…

Since this is more a question about optimization and not an issue running/launching the game, there may not be a lot of feedback to give here. However, if you post your DxDiag, we might be able to spot something interfering with your system. Also, make sure you’re running on high performance power settings for Windows and the GPU. Finally, keep in mind that overclocked hardware is not supported by Blizzard games.
