I think everyone is getting their hopes up too much

I seriously doubt we’re getting 6v6 back. I would be pleasantly surprised if we did (I’m a 6v6 fan), but in reality it kind of walks back the ‘fresh’ feel of Overwatch 2. Since there is no pvp, it’s just overwatch 1 with new graphics and heroes and maps (basically a backlog of withheld content + a shop).

It kind of reminds me of the time in Overwatch 1 where we hadn’t had a new support in a really long time, and they teased Echo. Everyone was speculating on what kind of support she would be, they were so sure it would be a support. She was a DPS and supports was really disappointed.

I think bringing back 6v6 would be great for the game, personally, but I’m also not going to speculate or bet on it ever coming back. Best case scenario we get an arcade mode, but I reckon in this dev post coming up it’s just going to be a very long ‘No, never.’

It is nothing but PvP, cuh. That’s the problem for a lot of people that were looking forward to Overwatch Dos.

That being said, after season 9. I acknowledge this is definitely a sequel. The original Overwatch would never. Most of the heroes I enjoyed were reworked until they were not fun. It’s been two years and the identity has really shown itself. It’s new everything except for the base idea.

I wont say its a certainty but I am leaning towards there being an announcement for some sort of 6v6, certainly not to completely replace 5v5, but to give us a more classic Overwatch experience, IE replacing 5v5 open queue with 6v6 open queue, no role passives, and reverts on the HP and hitboxes.

The only reason Im even the slightest bit confident in this is because there is ZERO merit in the slightest for Blizzard to even bother bringing up 6v6 directly if not to give us some form of it.

What does Blizzard stand to gain by coming out and telling the community what theyve already told the community a billion times? Say they finally come out and say “100% certain that 6v6 will never be back” does anyone in the universe think that will actually stop the 6v6 crowd from tearing down 5v5 at every opportunity?

And why even make us wait for the next blogpost if its just going to be an announcement telling us what Blizzard has already been saying? It makes no sense and only stands to let the community get hopeful about something just to disappoint the player base again. That is doing nothing but inviting more negative press and anger, and stands to earn Blizzard absolutely nothing.

I mean I agree, and I don’t think 6v6 would make the game feel like it’s ‘returning to ow 1’. But I’m just not so sure the devs see it that way. Oh well, maybe we will be pleasantly surprised.
