I Sure Do Love Being Put in the SAME Stomp Match Repeatedly

I join a match, I’m backfilled into an ongoing stomp match where my team has 2 collective kills and the enemy team has 16 collective kills.
I leave.
Go back in queue.
Get put in the same match. “Welcome back :)” my team says.
I leave.
Go back in queue.
Get put in the same match. “LOL” the enemy team says.
I leave.
Go back in queue.
GET PUT IN THE SAME MATCH.
I turn off the game and go watch tv instead.

Why is Blizzard so insistent on forcing you back in the same match? If I disconnected accidentally, fine, but I CLICKED on leave game for a reason. I do not want to be there. Ever. Stop putting me back in.
It’s not only embarrassing and annoying, it prevents that team from getting someone that is willing to put up with a stomp match. I’m not. I don’t enjoy being farmed by Diamond+ players.

How Embarrassing, maybe stop leaving games

This would also he resolved by waiting a minute before requeing. This isn’t an uncommon issue in any online game with a lobby that tries to always find someone who can fill any open slots.

It shouldn’t happen to someone who backfills. But if you had been the original leaver? Oh yeah they should totally stick you back in the same match, repeatedly.

OP; make sure you remember the name of one of yoru teammates and just avoid them…that works for not sticking you in the same match. And you’re gonna get die-hards in there who will flame you for leaving. But these are teh same smurfs or sweaty tryhards who dont like it when their punching bags leave or they are stuck in the stone age with their “you are required to stay for every game otherwise you suck” mentality

Nice attempt at slander. Most folks just want to have fun actually playing the game. To the end. You don’t have to be a smurf or a tryhard to want that.

How about you save yourself the embarrassment and just dont leave on the first place?

for every backfill that he plays he has a full game due to priority que so I don’t really understand why he won’t just stay either :man_shrugging:

There has to be an option to make it so you don’t enter the exact same match after you decide to leave. It’s 2023.

However, leaver penalties still should apply.

Btw, if you don’t want the same situation to happen, wait 1-2 minutes before enter queue, in that way, another poor soul will enter that match.

I always say it: If OW2 wants less leavers, REMOVE the “WIN GAMES” weekly challenges to “COMPLETE GAMES”. Hell, even in that way you are encouraged to complete that game, even if you know d4mm well you are going to lose. With the current system, you still get a “WIN” if you enter an ongoing match where your team is about to win /has won, it happened to me many times, and it’s not fair, I didn’t to anything to deserve that win.

It’s the quickest game to fill at the MMR that you’re at.

Wait like 20 seconds and then queue again.

Or just wait the match out and just play for funsies. It’s QP, you’re losing/gaining nothing from it.

The game doesn’t know this.

This is a lot of drama for something you can solve by a couple button presses to avoid someone, or, idk, waiting for all of 30 seconds to queue again.

why does everyone with this pfp turn out to be the biggest whiners on these forums

Well maybe don’t leave? Personally if someone leavea a match they should only backfill into that match until its finished

i mean, just avoid someone on your team?

tbf theres not much point in wasting time for a push game thats already lost. feels especially awful when your FIRST game of the day is a backfill like that.

people couldnt resist the urge of sticking their opinion in the response—me included. Sorry. But I agree, if you leave a match, it shoudlnt put you right back in the one you just left. That’s ridiculous behavior on the matchmaker’s part. Surely there are other people in queue.

I’m proud of you for picking the one of the better answers.

Because clearly you have no patience, which would lead you to the correct answer lol

It’s actually behavior that makes sense on the matchmaker’s part. You were selected as the most suitable player for that match. It makes sense it would select you as the most suitable player again.

Could they make a feature that won’t put you back in a game you left? Probably. But it’s not really worth their time to program a QoL improvement for the problematic players who leave games, especially when the player already has a solution.

if that solution is to just “not play anymore,” that isn’t a solution. And i’m not even talking about how stupid that comment is since you dont really get to dictate that. I’m talking about how it would be ignorant of blizzard to tell non-cheating players to take a hike when they are potential cash-cows.

I think the big fear is that it could lead to a bunch of people queueing in and purposefully getting a game over as fast as possible. Playing their worst heroes on purpose, being too aggressive, etc. There’s a lot of ways to purposefully lose a game without it being easily reportable.

I think the biggest change they need to make is to fix the matchmaking/balance. Stomps are a lot more common in OW2 than back in Overwatch. Even for someone that doesn’t mind sticking around for a losing game, it’s just not fun for anyone when a match winds up with one team camped in spawn the whole match. I don’t like leavers, but I’m not going to fault anyone for not wanting to play a one-sided match that everyone in the match knows they have no chance of winning.
