People say say storm arrow is worse than old scatter which confuses me. At least with storm arrow you can’t get one-shot without peaking, and it rewards people for landing headshots. Sure storm arrow is like McRightClick, but you have to aim each one instead of RNG being what the damage is.
One shot’s in general feel unrewarding to play against. I personally would remove all of them except for ultimates. Of course a few hero’s would need a heavy rework
McCree is what we call a one-shot, as well as widow and a damage-boosted ashe
Scatter was terrible, but Storm Arrow can still headshot which tbh is too strong.
I wouldn’t mind removing headshots and buffing the body-shot damage just a little bit
I do miss the ricochet though. That was the coolest part of his kit.
Would be neat if the storm arrows could still ricochet.
Yeah but it punishes people even if they do not peak, not a lot of counterplay
Scatter arrow was only bad because it could be abused (the good ol’ panic shoot at the foot). If they just implemented something that would prevent this, it could have stayed in the game and we wouldn’t be stuck with a sniper with a spam abiltiy.
She remove the aim reward and reward spamming bodyshots instead?
I would have reduced the bodyshot damage and increase the headshot multiplier. 50 dmg per arrow. 3x crit.
Yup, more Widow soft counter-play, I’m game.
But comparing apples to oranges for a moment, scatter arrow didn’t need to be aimed to be effective when fired around corners it just shotgunned everything every which way. Storm arrows effectiveness would require a lot more aim and there’s always the option to reduce damage after a ricochet.
But if you miss a single Scatter shot, you don’t have 5 more to just spam and hope enough land.
That’s my thing about it. At least Scatter was a single well placed shot. Cheap, sure, but well placed nonetheless. But then there’s Storm, which takes away a ton of skill and accuracy requirements from Hanzo and just becomes “spam in the direction to melt and win. The bigger the target, the better”.
Pick one:
-
Enemy Hanzo one-shots your tanks, while your Hanzo has 0 damage.
-
Enemy Hanzo has 5 chances to headshot you by accident, while your Hanzo has Gold damage with 0 criticals.
Scatter Arrow was considerably more difficult to use then Storm Arrow is. Scatter Arrow was one skill shot that you had to hit, or ells you had no way to eliminate the WInston jumping in your face. Storm Arrow is so much more forgiving as you can just spam it and do high damage, even without hitting all the shots. But worst of all, Storm Arrow is just really boring.
One shot’s mechanic should be removed. That’s it.
If enemy can’t oneshot you - just outplay him.
You can outplay damage by so many possibilities in this game
Meh, storm arrow is more forgiving and gives you ample time to get your kill without much effort
Scatter allowed you to shoot people’s feet for a 1 shot kill
I think they are both too easy/powerful, but oh well
Nothing was ever better then playing Orisa and, Boom! You’re dead at full health. A move that can one shot someone at 400 hp never belonged in the game.
I’m sorry but if you couldn’t hit Winston by aiming at the floor you had no right to ever play Hanzo outside of QP.
I still want Scatter Arrow to come back as Hanzo alternate fire, just reduce its max damage to something close to 150 or a bit more, I just want it back for the sake of consistency with Dragons and the fun to hit enemies that are hiding.
Yeah Ricochet would indeed be cool, but I guess that would be too hard to land without the scatter aspect.
Yes, Scatter Arrow was definitely worse for the game. Storm Arrows is a significantly less interesting ability, but there’s nothing “wrong” with it; it lets him fire faster while still requiring exactly the same accuracy as his normal fire. Scatter Arrow combined the worst of one-shotting tanks and random unintentional kills.
Really I think people give Storm Arrows too much attention with the rework. Adding Lunge is what caused all the problems.
