I really wish blizzard was more open with us

After reading the new blog post by blizzard about the hero ban and map pool changes, it felt really nice for them to be so straight forward for once. They say how they have been listening, the acknowledged our concerns and acted upon them.
If you havent seen the post here it is.

They mention how they hear our concern about HLC and Paris and they are activity working to rework the maps.
Blizzard, all i ask if you are seeing this is please be more straight forward with the player base and keep us updated more. It feels sometimes like we are left clueless and we question if any of our concerns about the game are actually being looked at. This blog post is a step in the right direction

Yeah, it’s always bugged me that we get glimpses of openness sometimes, it shows what we could have.

Obviously, right now, I understand why there isn’t as much communication as I would prefer, but hopefully this is a good sign.

Why specifically do people hate Paris? I never felt like it was a snowball intensive map (not even close to Horizon)

They can’t talk much to the “community” because most people are toxic to them. This happens in almost every game, it’s not unique to OW.

The fact that Horizon is so bad that this is the second time they’ve had to rework the map is sad.

Why would they? Anytime they share a bit of information this community loses their minds and the forums spam threads screaming at the devs for anything. Like 1-3-2 for example. It was never confirmed it was going into live and the community acted like it was going to replace 222.

The people who are toxic are usually the ones who dont know what they are talking about. They should not sacrifice the communication because of annoying toxic people

It’s not that simple unfortunately. Whenever they say something remotely relevant, people come at them like a pack of wolves, which causes a lot of “noise”. It is better for them to not stir the pot.

because movies/books/etc glorify the truck out of it and big hype leads to big disappointment which creates resentment

no idea why people dislike the OW map named after it though

Perhaps they should rely on community members that aren’t toxic to them and try ideas that are clearly helpful in every way to the state of the game.

Then the other ones become even more toxic and agitated. It’s a loss/loss.

Flashback to the last time Josh Noh came on the forums

Or they’ll just take their toxicity and agitation over to Valorant with them, which will cause the non-toxic and friendly Valorant players to get tired of that community and hop on over here so it could actually be a win-win.

That is not how it works. Eventually Valorant will be filled with toxic players, just like any other game.

First point is a single-chokepoint route to a point that has a respawn distance for the defenders that’s so long that if the attackers break the choke, they get the point. It’s pointless to contest past the choke because it’s so slow to get back.
And on the other side, it’s a single choke. Vs. high ground. You thought rein or throw was bad on any other map? Even the worst state Reinhardt has been in is basically mandatory for a team attack on Paris.

Then the second point is just a worse Hanamura B.

True…
But the amount of people who know nothing about game and be toxic will always outshine the ones that do.

Well, the other is to make a weekly blog post like Bungie did. But as of this point, Bungie is really hated right now with their seasonal contents.

Isn’t the first choke basically the same as Anubis with a choky highground for attackers to contest the main hg, and a flank on the left where you can grapple/fly over the roof to get a pick.

Hanamura B has highgrounds all over, Paris has one little one. It couldn’t be more different.

I dont know why the are, I know they can make whatever changes they want and dont really have to go off of numbers or data, since theyve made a lot of choices in the past just off of how they feel or something feels to play, but I liked Horizon way more before the map redesign, I’ve already gotten used to it but I don’t trust them to redesign it again, theyve essentially failed almost all their “redesign/rework” attempts with the only successful one I can think of being Torbs.

You’ll certainly see them seem to try more lately because of the Valorant fire under their butts.

I don’t know what more people want from Blizzard at the moment - we know what they’re working on right now:

  • Overwatch 2
  • Paris rework and then Horizon rework
  • Ongoing balance changes
  • Career profile rework (sorting of player icons, etc)

And they just released a roadmap of competitive changes/map improvements within the last 24 hours.

Do people want a developer update video each week like this:

As for Overwatch 2, there are regular times of the year where big publishers drop news about upcoming games - E3 being the obvious one in June, followed by Gamescom in August. Of course, E3 is cancelled but publishers will likely still be holding (online) events around that time. I would be shocked if we don’t hear anything about Overwatch 2 around that time.

Yes.
But Anubis has a lot more line of sight blocks for the attackers to actually get to those side routes with significantly less tank help, the attacker side has three health packs that are completely safe, and the high ground is significantly more contestable in Anubis.

Paris also has high ground on the back and right of B, but they’re much less useful than on Hanamura.

And besides, people complain about particular parts of those two maps anyway. Paris is basically like a worse implementation of two maps that people sometimes feel is sketchy to begin with.
