I really want Symmetra 2.0 to come back

But with throwable turrets with extra health.

Originally I was very pro Sym 3.0.
But i kept getting disappointed by the rework over and over again.
Especially since her entire kit is balanced around her being a taxi. And because of her TP she isn’t allowed to have any sort of independence…

Sym 2.0 was just downright fun af to me…

  • The strategy
  • The slow methodical playstyle
  • Her being extremely unique
  • Her being a support without healing but with shields, damage, control, teleporter
  • her being independent and actually good against SOMEONE in 1v1
  • carwashes <3

Idk man, i just love her.
And I cannot stop watching Sym 2.0 plays and montages.
And I feel like with simple buff and QOL changes she could have been amazing.

Like maybe:

  • throwable turrets
  • more health to turrets
  • maybe faster charging right click

or if anything:

  • allowing your teammates to see your turrets and TP/SG
  • a card or stat showing how much damage SG absorbed or how many lives were saved, like with Baptists immortality field, so people could see how useful she was instead of bullying her.

The rework accomplished nothing… it was a failure.

  • Sym mains still get bullied
  • Sym 3.0 is garbage
  • Sym 3.0 is still only viable on 1st point and is a niech pic
  • Sym 3.0 is slow and clunky
  • Sym 3.0 has much worse stats then Sym 2.0 ever did
  • Sym 3.0 only exists to be a taxi, and a bad one at that
  • Sym 3.0 cannot do absolutely anything without some major shielding and pocketing from the entire team
  • Sym 3.0 is deadweight to her team
  • Sym 3.0 is rarely fun
  • Sym 2.0 was much more fun
  • I really DO NOT CARE about her showing up a handful of times in the OWL or her being meta for 2 weeks before getting nerfed into oblivion.

Blizzard should really be more proud of heroes like Sym 2.0 and other utility heroes like Sombra or Mei.
Why? Because of the loyal community that stands behind them.
And most importantly because ITS THEIR ORIGINAL DESIGN.

You can find some Ninja, or an Archer, or a speedy character, or a sniper, or an explosives specialist, or a cowboy, or a Reaper/edgelord… in almost any other game.

But only in Overwatch can you find this beautiful, gorgeous, South Asian Goddess, then can use her imagination to create entire cities…from Light into Being.

Or a Stealth-Ninja-Hacker…

It would be a huge mistake to make any of these heroes generic and strip away their identity…

I made this montage a while ago, showing the evolution of Symmetra. Just goes to show how much she means to the community, despite all her changes.

And regarding outlock:

I really dont mind if she kept the current straight beam. However…if you let an edgy indian lady with a loud af buzzing, short range microwave to kill you, then you have been outplayed and deserve to die.

At least it needs time to charge up. Sniper kill you from any range in a split second.

I dont mind them bringing back sym 2.0 as long as they dont bring back her auto lock on beam, then we will have an issue

I think the same! autolock for a dps is trash

Auto lock for any role is garbage and i play only tank/support, i dont ever want to see an auto lock in this game

I can handle moira’s autolock and winston dmg with no aim. But not for a big damage character

she was fun, she had her time and that time has passed.

Sooo true. The rework was just awful for Sym. Both for her unique and fun playstyle as well as her viability. The problem is: All non-Sym players are happy. I’m pretty sure if Sym 3.0 wouldve been diffrent and viable, everyone would want Sym 2.0 back (Except the bronze kids that hate Lock-on of course)

That’s like say only kids that wants lock on want sym 2.0 back on. A dps should aim.

Well no a DPS doesnt NEED to aim. And she was considered more of a support anyway. Until they moved her into DPS for like a couple months before removing defence as a whole

Wasn’t she in support the entire time. They only switched her to dps after the rework

Hmm I don’t know actually…can’t really remember specifically as rework. I’m happy for you to prove me wrong though!

I was a sym 2.0 main I remember being being released for like two weeks before the rework was pushed on sym.

I was like oh crap a matchup sym actually is amazing at. But they didn’t change anything about sym herself up until the rework

That was actually a pretty garbo thing the devs did. Zero balance changes for 2.0 at all. We just waited an entire year and had our kit gutted

Had they done nothing sym would have improved just because of the release of brig

Regardless, I loved Symmetra 2.0. I had played quite a bit of her myself. I would enjoy her to come back but to replace her teleport/shield matrix for something else.

I always thought replace TP with 3.0 Photon barrier. But eventually I came to terms with that she also had a moveable shield to begin with labelled photon barrier as well. :joy:
Also would stop transportation for Symmetra and her team

Yeah sym 2.0 was my favorite too. Sym 3.0 just needed a competent balance team though. But the devs panick nerfed her right after the release of sigma like they couldn’t even tell new people learning a character were actively feeding 3.0

If anything I think 2.0 needed a nerf though. I was a gm sym main shield gen was broken but fixable. It just needed a duration or a max shields it could recharge. This would stop sym from just snowballing games.

Had they just done that 2.0 could have stayed a very viable character

All dps need to aim with more or less spread but need to aim. This is an fps game. If you want big damage then you need sort kind of aim.

She was never support. Supports heal in this game. Torb was better support than her.

Junkrat doesnt need to aim.
Neither does Doomfist. With Doom u just have to rocket punch in the general direction of the enemy.

Sym 2.0’s kit was designed to off-tank, not DPS. But honestly, a supportive DPS with a lot of utility like Sym or Sombra doesn’t need an aim-intensive weapon if their utility requires some skill and their damage output is limited. My idea for Sym would’ve been to keep Lock-on as a 30/50/70 DPS weapon beam that disables movement abilites like Blink or Boosters.
Also: Why not have a DPS that doesnt require much aim but other skills if there are 2 supports that pretty much dont require skill at all.

junk and doom are projectil and need aim. Not in the way mccree need but you need to predict and aim in that direction. You didnt need any kind of aim with sym.

You have other roles to have lock on. Sombra needs aim for sure. I dont understand why ppl want lock on so much. It’s obviously a broken ability for a dps and it’s more obvious when you claim for it so hard.

Lock-on and infinite ammo for a dps who moreover have autoaim torrets. wtf

Yeah, you just need to get in their face.
If they dont shoot you in yours first that is
