I REALLY don't want to be a taxi anymore

Symmetra’s taxi-port is an absurdly stupid ability that holds her back.
It makes her MORE niche and MORE team reliant then before.

She cannot get buffed or have her own independence and survivability because her balance revolves around a theoretical possibility of some ultra-coordinated teams sometimes using the teleport to gain a movement advantage.

I really really REALLY hate this.

Sym, as a damage dealer, and a theoretical tank buster should have more survivability, like Reaper, Mei, Doom, Torb, especially if she is close range.
Not depend on 5 other people to:

  • pocket her
  • shield her
  • protect her
  • clean up after her
    just for the sake of her doing something as simple as dealing damage.

This ability is just stupid and simply unbalancable.
It hurts Sym too much and the teams rarely use it.

And if its not in front of spawn all day, its gonna be "Sym is throwing!"

Here are a few possible options id like to suggest.

EITHER:

  • revert the TP to its old function and cooldown
  • allow it to have a halved cooldown if she destroys it
  • allow ONLY Symmetra to use the TP and then start balancing her from there now that she will finally have some survivability
  • bring back old Photon Barrier instead of TP. It makes more sense for her to have it if she is supposed to have space to charge up and do damage up close

OR:

  • Give her a new hard-light based ability that is supportive in nature, but not stationary and easily destroyable like Shield Gen.
    I personally drew a parallel between Sym and Ying from Paladins…

Maybe a new ability called Photonic Projection.

It would be cool for Sym to be able to conjure projections of herself like Ying does, that last 10 seconds each, and allow Sym to teleport between these illusions. So she can actually be able to charge up her beam and attack from different angles. And maybe she can also make them explode and do damage?
Or for them to move around and do damage? Or assist team-mates?

Idk… just give her something else.

Sym’s kit is very powerful, but extremely contradictory and unsynchronised with itself. Sym basically counters herself.

I personally dislike the TP the most because of its long cooldown and current function.
At least turrets dont need the good will of her entire team to be useful and assist her in securing kills or protecting herself sometimes.

The way the team balances the game revolves around the top tier and so it mostly involves her being super effective, I believe it was addressed before but a balance based on the tier the player is in would be a fairer way, but really hard to implement with the engine ow runs in now :slight_smile:

I think the worst thing about that teleporter is that the cooldown is so long that you can barely even use it properly as an escape tactic. Not to mention whenever you use it for something other than a taxi service you get “avoid sym, trash sym” - ignoring the fact you get that for playing her anyways :)))))

Also Sym doesn’t need to be deleted she’s so darn cute. Don’t even ask me about the Figure Skater skin :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

i say make it a either or like the old ult, she can put a TP down OR a shield gen

In my opinion both turrets and teleport are holding her back, PB would be so good for her right now and any other ability would make sense since she you know … makes things out of light

Not only that, but removing her turrets will take away the reason she is so unloved by the playerbase. CC sucks and being on either end of the car wash does not feel good.

In addition! Now people can’t say sym is ez and for nubs :cowboy_hat_face: take that gengu main.

No one said you had to be a taxi, did they? You can still manually destroy the teleporter.

It serves no other useful purpose other than a taxi. Tp bomb is old everyone above gold can easily seek and destroy it with a lousy punch or 2.

When teleporter was her ultimate it was one of my favourite abilities. it was so fun and felt awesome . Now it just sucks, as does Sym in general. Still dont know what the devs were thinking.

And it was somehow better when it didn’t last forever? I’m a bit confused why people still don’t like the inifite teleporter.

Im not saying buff tp I’m saying literally change it back to an ult( which will never happen) or scrap it

for how goood it looked her design when tthis game came out, her kit always hav been trash. thats really sad but Im sure shes gettin a rework and a lot of love for ow2

The thing is even if old Sym 2.0 was niche, she was fun and unique and had been 1 tricked to grand master before. She was so different to play. The rework ruined her from inside out.

I think Sym reduced to being a “taxi” is punishment for past transgressions of the teleport u off the map offense.

Meis wall one day will be a walk through non barrier wall. It will just be an elevator.

Yesterday, Symmetra on my team used Teleporter to get us from spawn on Volskaya Industries to a place close to spawn in a way I never knew existed. We snuck past the enemy team and seized the objective, pretty much taking them by surprise.

You might not like teleporter, but that was fun as hell.

At some point we all wanted infinite Teleporter.

When we heard how it was being changed (can manually be destroyed by Symmetra and further distance) we were happy. We were thinking it would have the same mechanics as Torb Turret (cooldown functions)

…then we read the next bullet points. Cooldown starts when ability is destroyed and it’s 15 seconds (now 12).

This is a problem because with old 3.0 mechanics, the effective cooldown (if not destroyed) was 2 seconds. Fast but limited window to use TP felt like it flowed better compared to current where the 12 second wait time doesn’t mix well.

Sucks because like Defense Matrix changes over D.va’s history, it limits the use of the ability. Not flowing well with the evolving pace of the game.

There are 2 suggestions to help this build:

  • Make it like Torbjorn Turrets were manually destroying TP reduces cooldown time
  • Revert to old 3.0 but make pressing ability key “refreshes” Teleporter time making it infinite by Symmetra’s choosing

Or just a flat revert to old 3.0 status

imo Blizz should revert any “Infinite” buffs they made to heroes. changes like that make some of them way too “limited” I guess?
