I really don't like Overwatch League

not because it’s boring to watch or that teams aren’t even from where you would think the teams names would suggest.

No, I don’t like OWL because every tries to copy the plays that happen in it.

All I’m seeing now is people wanting to do quad tank.

Quad tank is an effective strategy in some situations

Sure but not when people are threatening to report and throw because your not doing what they say.

That’s the people’s fault not the composition

I like the Overwatch League personally, but people should focus more on what works in their games than on copying pro strats. We aren’t pros. We can’t execute their strategy as cleanly.

Just because a hero or a certain comp is amazing in OWL, it doesn’t mean that they are great at gold.

That’s one of the problems with Overwatch. Not a big one, but a problem. You get meta-slaves who think whatever strategies the pros use are clearly the best, and are completely overpowered, and expect everyone do follow it to a tee. And when people decide to use a different strategy, since it might be better in that scenario, they react as if they’ve been insulted on a very deep and personal level.

Childish, really. I got very tired of having to try to explain to people for a few seasons that we didn’t lose because the enemy team had a Mercy, but because our DPS couldn’t hit anything and our Tanks kept diving and trickling without everyone else.

I would like this, but I’m out of likes for the day. I agree with everything you said Blam320.

I also think some of the nerf xyz hero threads are primarily because of people watching the Overwatch League. You’ll notice that a lot of threads popped up when the league started.

OWL has some influence over the meta. But the meta choosing actually comes from Grandmaster top 500 games.

Sure, the OWL players will definitely find the most suitable and best strategies for different maps. However, in normal competitive, there just isn’t that level of coordination and teamplay available, for lots of metas to be viable like how pros use it.

So while they may influence the meta, They can’t dictate it on their own.

What does quad tank have to do with the Overwatch League?

that’s not the OWL’s meta fault.
Some people are just so toxic that they will always find a reason to throw when their team doesn’t follow what they think is the best way to win.

Quad tanks are the most dump thing about overwatch, always has been regardless of how some players enjoy it. It only shows how trash tier Reaper actually is.

Quad tank has nothing to do with OWL. It’s meta now, so of course people are going to play it.

And if they didn’t have OWL, they’d just imitate the streamers they follow or other high level players. Who would also be doing quad tank. because it’s meta.

Sure but not when people are threatening to report and throw because your not doing what they say.

Forget them. Mute them, or report them for poor teamwork if all they’re doing is flooding the chat with team complaints instead of paying attention.

“Okay, I’ll try it, but quad tank works by overwhelming the other team before they can build ultimates. So if we can’t make it work in the first couple minutes, let’s plan to switch. Now, let’s figure out which route we’re gonna take…”

I’ve never watched a streamer or OWL even once. Quad tank was a logical conclusion to the Mercy nerf and Moira’s AOE healing.

I agree in general, but with quad tank, how much coordination do you really need? All you really need to do is speed boost onto the point and stay together so Moira can heal everyone at once. This is definitely something the average team in ranked can pull off.

To be honest I kinda forgot about it. I was cool with it at first, but it just became boring. I don’t know, I just couldn’t force myself to get into it. I do like the Shock’s logo and colors though. Plus you know the Korean dominate teams are just going to win anyway.

The part that the average ranked team is missing is when to try it. OWL teams only run that strategy on certain maps in certain situations. Ranked teams just want to run it all the time. But, it doesn’t work all the time, even for the pros.

Agreed. Hopefully we’ll see some new strategies in Stage 2 and people will realize this.

I mostly don’t like it because it takes precious time from dev team they could spend for fixing and improving the game itself.

I know they said how much they care about it and it’s important for them to see OW in a pro scene, but really for such a young game that still have a number of basic problems it’s a very wrong turn.

Quad tank is the easiest comp to pull of at any rank of play, it makes sense why people would want to copy it. Same with Junk/hog/orisa too.
I personally rather people try to copy those comps than dive even thought I am master, because dive is the hardest, it’s just how it is. And 2-2-2 with rein/zarya is not quite ideal either, it tends to either fail miserably or it works for 1 round but then fails once and suddenly it’s over and no one can readjust.

Same could be said about the quad tank, but let’s be honest, a hog hooking someone will always be easier than your mccree hitting a headshot.
