I have played with boosters before but I wasn’t able to confirm that they are boosting. However, this one I am sure as the guy who was getting boosted said in team chat that he paid good money for this carry. The booster is a master player every season except this one he dropped to silver around 1700 or 1800 here is a photo of his current sr ( I didn’t have any capture program running so I had to take it with my phone sorry for the quality): https://ibb.co/dsivaJ
After realizing that I throw the match and let the enemy team know that I am throwing. At the beginning, my teammates were really mad at me and the booster asked me to leave the game. However, after a long talk, I think some of my teammates started throwing too. The game ended on a draw because it’s nearly impossible to beat the booster on defense. The only reason we were able to draw is that the enemy team went every single possible counter and staller in the game and constantly switching based on the booster hero choices. Also, the booster was being mercy pocketed by the guy who is getting boosted. Long story short I reported him and throw the match as well as I made some of my teammates throw too so we can get a draw. Is there anything else I should have done or anything I should not have done?
Here are photos from some parts of the conversation ( I lost one of the major parts because I couldn’t scroll up after the match ended so this is what I got at the end of the game):
edit: I removed the photos due to the forms tos about the calling players names out.
btw $200 for a game!!! No wounder boosting is such an issue! I want to get to GM so I can boost people
Rather than throw, and probably tick off your teammates, you should have just played, collected the W and reported him after. Maybe asked others to report him as well.
The dude who was getting boosted was playing pocket Mercy to the guy who was in Masters 8 seasons in a row as he carried the game.
Anyways, back to the OP
The problem with what you did is you only set them back 1 game. It’s really not worth the reports and such on your own account as they’ll just queue back up and get the SR back the next round. Outside of reporting them, there’s not a whole lot you can effectively do.
I’d just take the win. Boosters are as likely to be on your team as on the opposing team.
I had a booster the other day - a DPS pairing up with a “diamond” Reinhardt. The Rein was clearly mediocre and the DPS was out of this world (Phara ult every 25 seconds). I called out the boosted Rein and beat on him like seven-day-old eggs. Managed to actually get a win against him (he got tilted when he was called out for being the bronze player he is. Worked out!
Yeah the booster (GM) was being pocketed by the guy that was getting boosted.
OT:
In my opinion you shoul have first convinced your team to throw before you actually did it, know you ver likely annoyed your team before they realised what was happening.
I would have take the easy win though, 1 match won’t leave an impact on that player. Just play the game and report them.
The guy who is being boosted was the mercy.
The guy who is boosting was playing dps ( genji, pharah, hanzo…etc.)
The guy who is being boosted used to play dps but when I throw I forced him to play mercy and pocket his carry.
It would take a whole alot to suspend me, that is why I am excited for the endorsement system because I can go up really high and really quick. I might have done externally toxic things in the past and I will keep doing them but these will never overcome all the games I turned from externally toxic to externally positive.
That is true, but most of my team mates where happy with it at the end if anything I might got 2 reports in that game one from the booster due and one from a teammate who was really mad at the begging and might reported me than. Also, in the photos ( that I had to remove ) the guy who is being boosted said this game cost me $200. I will take that.
While throwing is never the right answer, i understand. In the grand scheme it’s just one game, but you’ll have better luck just reporting, taking the win, and moving on. Give yourself ~5m before the next game to hopefully make sure you don’t get queued with that guy in your game.
On a side note, the printscreen key(Generally PRINT SCRN on keyboards) is your friend, it takes a screen shot of your screen, and if you are using multiple just press alt + printscreen. You can then paste that into paint and it will let you crop as you need.
What? Why would you throw the match… out outside of the booster and person they are boosting there are 3 other people’s SR you are damaging.
Also that said, if they were a real booster than it wouldn’t matter that you are throwing. Boosters are typically t500 players with multiple accounts in t500 and I can tell you right now they will absolutely dominate any match under master/diamond
But can they dominate 2v6 when the rest of the team feeds?
I’d say you shoulda taken the w but multi-reported the booster and boosted. Also ask them their plan for when the booster gets bored and leaves them to plummet back to Bronze.
If you opted to throw a match - you are automatically IN THE WRONG. Full stop. Period.
There is no justification or rationalization you can use to excuse yourself. Expecting me to cosign that pile of male bovine excrement is an insult.
If you suspect cheating/boosting/voting for the tea-party in a match, the correct response is to report - block - avoid as team and move on. But no, you tried to correct/punish their behavior by engaging to bad behavior yourself, then come here trying to white wash what you did. Sorry, there is not enough bleach in the world to remove the stain you just put on yourself.
There’s a lot of boosters lately, see people stuck in Silver for 6 seasons on end and now they suddenly have 80% winrates on Genji and Tracer. Just play as you normally do and report after the game (+ ask others to report obvious boosters as well).
