Seriously, no one likes seeing things like, “Haha, X Hero is getting sent to F tier where they belong! Now the game can be fun again! Now the mains of X Hero have to actually have skill!” etc. etc.
Just … just don’t. Even if you’re happy about a balance change, don’t rub it in people’s faces. Always think of things from the opposite side of the coin; how would YOU feel if your main got trashed and you read dozens of comments like that? It’d feed pretty crappy, yeah?
Acknowledging that you agree with a change is fine. Maturely discussing changes is fine, but don’t make it personal. Be a decent human being and have some empathy. Don’t be petty.
And 2.) Please stop blaming players or mains of heroes for balance changes.
Let’s be real; balance changes are largely due to two things and only two things - the data the devs collect and pro player feedback. Us community forum peasants have very, very little impact (if any) on any buffs or nerfs that may go through.
(Well, other than the data we send their way by playing the game, I guess.)
So, please, stop going at each other’s throats and demanding vengeance nerfs and spewing hatred. No one you’re talking to or hating on actually caused your frustration.
#1 causes #2 and vice versa. If we could all just step up our social game a bit a lot of the bitterness around the forums could be avoided.
I don’t care what you say, nothing will stop my blame towards Hanzo!
Headshotted around the corner?
Thanks, Hanzo Fell off the map?
Thanks, Hanzo Failed my entrance exam?
Thanks, Hanzo Thanksgiving Turkeys sold out?
Thanks, Hanzo
Edit: I think your post is wonderful, excuse my cheeky self
Hey Cresply, this is not a response, I gotta say, remember Boston Uprising uniforms custom voicelines. If you play or know Team Fortress 2, you would understand Scout is Bostonian. Does it make sense now? He’s not a yankee, he’s really Bostonian. I was waiting until you’d appear on a recent forum. I know this has nothing to do with the post, when you saw it, I wanted to say it.
Oh, ok. I think I remember that thread? It’s been awhile ago. Sadly I don’t play TF2 so I didn’t get the reference. Thanks for clearing it up, I guess. XD
Man, I’m a Tracer main and don’t really love Brig either, but you can’t be like that. (Well, I guess you can, but really shouldn’t.)
Like what if Tracer gets a really ridiculous nerf, and the mains of heroes you hate start taunting you over it? Probably won’t be the best feeling.
Also, there are actually some legit Brigitte mains who just love the Paladin playstyle. Not every one of them is some disgruntled player who hates Tracer. XP Stereotypes suck.
Anyway, I really hope people cool off from all this soon.
Okay, but seriously, why does it matter? People were smug when Widowmaker got nerfed which, ironically, forced the Widow player-base to get much better at landing headshots thereby creating a much more powerful and oppressive hero… I digress, it was not really a huge concern because I blamed the true culprit. Blizzard. Professional players are just a scapegoat and “true stats” are just a justification for their terrible decisions. If people want to be smug, that is no problem, they are just here having fun. I am more concerned with developers being smug about the forum Brigitte concept only to 180 two weeks later and I feel everyone else should be more concerned about that compared to how our peers act.
As for blaming players. Yes. I already sort of alluded to it. Blizzard is the inherent problem. Not the players. That being said, objective reasoning never was too popular. It is easier to just scapegoat a group of people that you do not perceive as your friend.
I largely agree but I think they listen to feedback way more than we think. They went from creating the term “forum brigitte” to nerfing her dramatically in like, two weeks, I would think a 180 degree turn like that wasn’t motivated by data, because data mostly likely didn’t change in that short amount of time.
They do listen to the masses as evidenced by cosmetic changes. It’s just that for balance the forums and r/cow cancel each other out, and after the s3 dva mega debacle they’re very prone to thinking people are wrong.
I want to see Brig readjusted so she is actually a viable second support, not taking the place of a DPS.
Doomfist just doesn’t work for a game where Zarya is the only hero with even the slightest chance of saving from him. The only other options seems revolved around killing him before he can kill you; that’s not exactly true counterplay.
yeah, like i see so many people going like “blizzard is giving in to the forum criers” or “they are nerfing heroes so that tracer is always viable”.
And i’m like “wtf guys if forum criers had their way brig would have been dumpstered harder like 8 months ago” and “mercy wouldn’t have stayed broken for over a year”.
Seriously, bliz buffs around what they think is right. We might not agree but so far they had many right choices in terms of balance.
And evn if i might not agree on everything they do, i can like the fact that lately they have been put much more effort in balance patches.
Like, how many patches have we got lately? And they were actually big and impactful, not some random number tweak that addresses nothing.
Do you mean the thing where Sombra’s hack was borderline bugged and would allow things like hack going off through Reinhardt’s shield or mid Mei Ice-Block? Because I honestly see them adding an LoS check to that as more of a bandaid bug fix than an actual “nerf.”
Edit: Found a post about it:
I never advocated for a 2 sec Hack CD or anything like that. In fact I was just in a thread today saying they should up the damage threshold on that before Hack is canceled.
I don’t recall being smug about that, but I do have my bad days. I try to be a civil human being and succeed more often than not, at least. (Or so I hope. XP)
So /shrug.
Edit: The only post I can find that you could be referring to is this one (as it’s the only one I can find that you replied to):
I don’t know, maybe the thread you’re remembering got deleted. This has sent me on a post history search out of curiosity, though. lol
Oh god, can you imagine a meeting like that IRL? XD
You’d have people throwing paper wads at each other, screaming about balance, then out of nowhere this weird guy would roll in yelling about a D.Va school girl skin.
