Believe it or not, I didn’t actually hate him in OW1. I’d go Junkrat to blow him, or, once role queue made me main tank, I’d get some D.Va or Sigma and force him to swap. I kinda rolled my eyes at a bunker comp, but that’s about it.
So what’s the reason now? It’s actually not even Bastion on their own. The character is arguably worse now that can’t just sit as turret and self-heal forever (which is good) and now I also have Orisa as a counter. It’s the fact that my DPS seem to rely Bastion as a crutch. Just about every time something doesn’t work, they switch to Bastion because “damage printer go BBBRRRRRR” I guess. They either swap into a Bastion counter or end up getting even worse results.
I’ve also already mentioned that I don’t get why would people pick Bastion over Junkrat, who has similar burst damage, way better mobility, better enemy displacement and CC. Just like Genji’s spamming “mada mada” ruined the character for me, so have the DPS on my team ruined Bastion for me now.

Because junkrat requires way more skill than bastion. Bastion is the lowest skill dps and it’s not even close

Disagree. You could take exactly the same aim/awareness and get more value playing on Soldier in the vast majority of situations. Which would make Soldier easier.
In truth the power of a hero directly determines skill requirement. Stronger the hero, the less skill required to get the same value.
I almost never play Bastion himself, however he’s one of my favorites to duplicate as echo because of his damage output

Bastion is a crutch hero, who melts tanks. One of the strongest dps in the game.
It’s crazy he can move during assault form, with 300+ hp with ironclad.
I have something similar with Sombra. This hero seems to boost so hard (about 2 ranks).
