It’s hit or miss. Some conversations devolve into some nasty name calling, and others have long chains of people arguing who are shining examples of the dunning kruger effect.

One time I posted thr exact same thread about mercy on the forums and reddit - completely opposite responses. It was wild

I’d try r/competitiveoverwatch, but unless you’re posting gold-level opinions or revert mercy sh*tposts you won’t get downvoted.
I like forums better r/competitiveoverwatch is a DPS worshipping circle jerk so it’s kinda pointless. At least here you get varied discussion.

As bad as the forums supposedly are, I definitely prefer the community here over the reddit fam. I mean the MercyMains sub isn’t bad, nor the ReinMains sub, but the general sub is just vicious and also useless.
I never go on reddit and see a post and go “oh hey, it’s this person, let’s see what they have to say!”, but here I feel like I actually know people and have actual conversations that can even branch across multiple posts because we come to understand each other’s point of view (even if we disagree).
On reddit you just get downvoted or ignored, and any meaningful interaction you have disappears outside of that one post. Here we’re a family.
A really problematic family that often doesn’t get along, but at least we can put the fun in dysfunctional.

Mostly that first one. From my experience the difference between r/OW & r/Comp is really just “My PotG/Clip” vs. “[Some Pro’s] PotG/Clip” 99% of the time.

Expect a 6 hour rant from me about why you’re wrong about mystery heroes. I will have stopped making any new points after the third minute, by ten minutes in I will have actually contradicted myself at least 3 times, and somewhere around 4 and a half hours is a completely unwarranted attack against you as a person, completely devoid of anything having to do with Overwatch.
