So, I rarely ever Smurf. I’ve probably played on my Smurf twice since OW2. I don’t like doing it, I’d rather just play my main, but my low ranked buddy really wanted to play comp, so I said I’d hop on the alt. Every gold lobby is filled with them, it’s insane. Every player has a characters name in their battle tag. Every player is so obviously smurfing it’s insane.

I dont see many smurfs tbh. Maybe the game has a secret smurf queue, recognized you as a smurf and put you with the rest? Or perhaps your region is just full of them.
Pretty obvious that there are more smurfs then before .
The game is free to play, Can’t stop people now for making acc after acc…
From all the dumb and stupid things Blizzard did, making it free to play is by far the worst…

When you get bored of your current playthrough (or feel like you could do better) but you still want to play the same game, you start a new save file. OW2 being free with no system in place to prevent people from making multiple accounts effectively gives the game multiple save slots.
Smurfing is fun, and the better smurf wins. And the rest pepegas are like your army of creeps from DotA, protecting a tower

Most of these smurfs are so bad at the game, you can’t even call them smurfs. They are not even low GMs. Although, there are many of those, but not as many who deserve this elite name. - Pepega-smurfs who can’t even protect their golden pepegas unlike the DadSmurf who come there to do actual business!

Yes, though out of my 2,000 plus games on OW2, I’ve probably only played 20 games on a smurf
Those are advanced AI bots designed to talk crap in chat and feed.
Main account is my lowest ranked gang 
It used to be patently obvious, used to have account levels right on your account symbol. Towards the end of OW1, half the people in every match was smurfing, it was ridiculous.

As a console player that can’t afford PS+ I can appreciate the free to play part, you could create infinite accounts on console anyways it’s just more people have access to it since it’s free.
What IS dumb and stupid is the fact that they still have done nothing to even try to mitigate the damage smurfs cause to this game. Increase the amount of time needed to be eligible for Comp.
Go Oppenheimer on it, 20 hours on every role before an account is eligible for Comp. Or can’t play Comp until every hero is unlocked.

From silver through diamond there isn’t much of a difference in player skill. The higher ranks probably grind comp more. Understand how to counter swap / win the game. But on a match by match basis the games feel about the same

Ok this is incredibly out of touch. There is a major difference just between a diamond 5 player and a diamond 2/1 player.

This is one of those seasons where its entirely possible to be legitimately at a rank and just having to dominate your way out of it. People kind of forgot that resetting MMR just means all the best players got reset and there are going to be people who get very unlucky in placements (I know a few people who on one role or another got disastrous placements and are struggling to climb winning 70-80% of their games).
Smurfs are annoying but they have to abuse broken heroes to force high winrates. I feel like there’s less of that now, so it’s probably even harder for smurfs to dominate the lobby.
For example in previous season, I used to get wrecked by smurf kiriko who would constantly 2 tap both of our DPS and supports. I was playing support and I myself (or even my teammates) couldn’t really contest the kiriko. Because every time we’d get her to low health, she’d just TP away. I couldn’t flank and get kills like her either since I wasn’t a smurf. So the game was pretty much unwinnable.
But now, I can’t imagine smurf kiriko dominating the lobby as hard as she used to be able to back then.
…Although I’m a bit worried about smurf tracer or genji doing the same this season thanks to their HP buff. But I haven’t come across any yet (knock on wood).
It’s insane how 90% of smurfs (who are already cheating by smurfing) have to add another layer of cheating by getting pocketed.

It really doesn’t matter which hero somebody plays when they’re 2k+ sr below their actual rank.

I can stomp gold and below using battle mercy, melee only torb, not even hammer, plain ol fisting.
