I need help with error code "LC-202" (Console)

Hi. I have been playing for a little more than 2 years and haven’t had an issue like this before. For about a week now everytime i get on to play, I am indiscrimently kicked out of the server. The error code that appears after i am kicked is LC-202 and I have no idea how to fix it. I have unistalled and reinstalled more than a couple times. I have reset my router multiple times, and my internet connection is running with no other problems for any of my other games and devices. If someone could help me trouble shoot this I would be greatful. Thank you for reading

Thank you for listing out your troubleshooting steps you have taken so far. LC-202 is the Console version error code for a general “Lost Connection to the Server Error”.

FIRST PLEASE NOTE! If you play on PlayStation 4 and only just encountered this problem within the last couple of hours, your problem may now be resolved. There was a momentary issue with the PlayStation Network overall which could affect the ability to connect to Overwatch. This has now since resolved. So please try to play again (try playing Quick Play and not Competitive to avoid penalties) to see if your connection is working again.

If you are still having issues at this time and since you have specified that other games or services are not disconnecting, the assumption at this point is that some point between you and the game servers is dropping the connection. With consoles this is not easy to troubleshoot, but if you have a Windows computer connected to the same local area network as that of your console, there is a way to track possible issues by running a WinMTR test. Please follow these instructions carefully (make note of specific Console steps).

WinMTR instructions:

  1. Download WinMTR from Download WinMTR-v092.zip (WinMTR) (Console players need a Windows Desktop Computer connected to the same network as their console to do this.)
  2. Unzip the WinMTR.zip file to the Desktop.
  3. Open the WinMTR folder and select the 32 or 64 bit version. Choose whichever one corresponds to your version of Windows.
  4. Run the WinMTR.exe
  5. Type the IP address you want to trace in the “Host” field. To get the correct IP you will actually need to open up the game and go Practice Vs AI or Quick Play and if you are on PC hit Ctrl+Shift+N and it will bring up the ingame network diagnostic graph, or go to Video > Options > Display Network Performance Graph if you are on any platform including Console. In the top left corner is the IP address you want to run WinMTR to.
    Network Graph
note When looking at the IP it will show up ingame as something like 12.34.56.78:12345. You will want to leave the last 5 digits and the colon at the end off and the IP you want to use is just the 12.34.56.78
  6. Once you notice the connection issue while playing, play for about 6 more minutes, minimize the game and click on “Stop”.
  7. Click on “Copy text to clipboard”, then return to this forum thread.
  8. Type two sets of four squiggly lines and then paste the contents of the WinMTR test between: ~~~~ Paste WinMTR Test Results Here ~~~~

If in the event you can’t even connect to Overwatch and get into any game mode at all, please use one of the following IP addresses based on your geographical region:

  • US West - 24.105.30.129
  • US Central - 24.105.62.129
  • Brazil - 54.207.107.12
  • Europe - 185.60.114.159
  • Europe - 185.60.112.157
  • Korea - 211.234.110.1
  • Taiwan - 203.66.81.98

Thank you for the reply. It did resolve itself. To a degree but if it reappears as an issue i will use this post as a refference to try and fix it again. Thank you for your help.
