There really needs to be an option to use this to “I need healing”. When I play support I don’t heal trash and make it clear dps has to earn the healing. See them change their skill level real quick or leave and get someone who doesn’t throw.
Nice team player.
Shameful support.
guarantee you’re one of the ones that never turns around when the supports are fighting for their lives in the back
I am the support.
And I’m always shoulder checking.
Stuff like what OP said doesn’t help at all. Always in-team fighting and betrayel and ignorance.
Do what you can or move on. But further sabotaging isn’t going to help anything.
That’s a big old yikes from me.
As a support player, we don’t claim you ![]()
This guy is roleplaying the angry WHM. One too many memes.
That’s why i play self sustain dps and leave you to fend for yourself when you have that attitude
its the ping button. ping targets and use vc
the ping quite often gets drowned out completely by all the action happening during the fight but VC is a must
I do it 2 if i am on top of the charts no matter the role i play something is wrong. As dps i usuall have double the kills and damge on my team, tank is the same, support i am usually equalled or slightly above dps, but have 10k+ healing
Doesnt seem like you actually play supports much. Because if you do you will know trying to heal bad dps are basically a waste of resource and you will help the team more using that time to shoot the enemy instead.
For example theres no point in dumping an entire clip without missing on your dps and still have them sitting on critital hp but the enemy dps without any heals still at full hp.
I’ve got over 500 hours on support.
Listen, all this stuff is easy to say on a forum. In reality, no, you don’t need to prioritize them, you determine who is the most effective on the team and try to support them, unless they don’t require as much support and are generally capable of cleaning up themselves, in which case your next option is to either take matters into your own hands, or select the person who needs the support the most and try to work with them, outside of heal botting. This is where comms come in, your ability to actually multi-task, and trying to motivate and form united gameplay with the person who actually needs the help.
In reality there are lots of ways it can go, but literally forsaking someone is honestly a last ditch option. Your job as support is essentially min/maxing, all around. You min/max yourself by not just being a healbot, you min/max your team’s efficiency by doing everything I said above, and that means not just cutting all ties from the person who might actually need you most.
I’m not saying don’t focus your resources elsewhere, or waste them on someone, but when we talk about resources most people just think “i’m healing this guy but he’s not doing anything”. The problem solving doesn’t just end there. You’re just not that capable of seeking a resolution. IE: I highly doubt the “useless” dps actually has 0 - 5% accuracy. You try to min/max yourself if you can, stick with them and target focus with them. Try to comms with them, direct/motivate/socially support them. Show them you are there working with them, half the time these are just nervous people. Be an actual support.
I get it’s a video game and it’s not everyone’s jive to “babysit” someone, but at that point you just haven’t done all you could actually do. That’s totally fine, it’s a video game, but expecting everyone to be at a certain level and not putting in your all isn’t really worth complaining about IMO.
I know it isn’t always possible, that the rest of your team more often than not needs you too, but just opting to throw your hands in the air and say “im not gonna heal them so they pull their pants up” is not going to do much more than cause animosity and discourse in the team.
Drop the ego, and be a team member.
The issue is also where people take it from there.
If you’re say Mercy and help an Ashe for a bit but she misses every shot before you have to help someone else, what do you do?
Do you not help her ever again? Because I’ve noticed that a lot of supports online say yes to this. A concerning amount.
People are humans and the best players still mess up from time to time. Heck, I remember a clip where a T500 Cassidy missed 7 shots on a reaper within flashbang range of him.
Does that mean you shouldn’t prioritize them? It really depends. But the answer to never helping them again is always no unless it results in you dying or a missed opportunity worth more than one player’s contribution.
Refusing to help someone just because they misplayed or aren’t doing great is a recipe for more misplays and worse performance overall.
the biggest self-insert for a ban i’ve seen on the forums.
Slaps an entire wot, doesnt understand that i am infact refering to the dps that cant hit anything the entire game.
Yes everybody can miss all their shots in a single duel, but ppl who miss almost all their shots the entire game exists. These are the ones im talking about where its a complete waste of resources to heal them.
This has nothing to do with ego, this is simply called being pratical and wanting to actually win the match. You are quite literally gonna get nothing out of supporting a dps who goes stuff like 0-0-7 because they wont dodge a single shot and will eat every single one. Which means unless you are hard pocketing they will die pretty much instantly. And even if you try to hard pocket they cant get anything. Even if you tried to sleep the person they are dueling, they will wake it up instantly.
I summarized important points above.
The amount of times you will have someone who is so bad that they’re 0 - 5% acc and 0 - 7 KDR strictly because of themselves, with or without your support, is not that high.
Actually identifying that, and just throwing your hands up, is also likely not that common. I’d choose to believe most people just get frustrated after a short period of time and quit.
But again, I reiterate,
But it does still happen and these are the ones im talking about. With these ppl you only have 2 options, 1)ignore them and fully focus on dpsing the person who is dueling them to trade or 2)hard pocket them and get nothing of value since they are gonna miss all or almost all their shots the entire game anyway.
Do you simply not understand that you cant multitask in such scenarios because they literally wont dodge a single shot. Means they are gonna die in 2 shots if they arent getting hard pocketed.
When did i say to ignore the rest of the team? You are still supporting the rest as normal but you simply ignore the dps that is getting no value.
For the third quote.
We can speak hypothetically all you want, but if you actually believe and trust players around here to do the above, that’s entirely up to you.
And with this, I reiterate prioritization. I know it’s not always possible or a good idea. I just have a severe issue with bland generalized complaints that don’t really offer much to them other than advising people to ditch after someone doesn’t do much after the first or second engagement.
Like, at no point am I advising people to pocket someone who’s utterly useless, just that they need to be able to identify that, prioritize and do a little more than just heal them.
