I miss when Legendary skins had unique voicelines

I love the designs of the Celestial Mega Bundle but each skin has standard voicelines. This is such a shame because it feels like only mythic skins get unique voicelines. As a long time player of this game it’s hard to enjoy OW2 paid content when it comes with less cosmetics than before. It’s like paying more for less.

The following older Legendary skins have unique voicelines:
Hades Pharah (Season 1 of OW2)
Lifeguard Cassidy (OW1)
Junker Symmetra (OW2)
Soldier 76 Grillmaster 76 (OW1)
Cruiser DVA (OW1)
Poseidon Ramattra (Season 1 OW2)

The following Legendary skins have default voicelines and feels bad:
Soldier 76 Grill Zombie 76 ← I own this and was disappointed
Celestial Zenyatta
Celestial Juno
Celestial Moira
Loki Sombra
Lifeguarder Life Weaver ← I own this and was disappointed

Don’t forget jazz Lucio, I don’t think he had any unique voicelines per se, but it did change his music a bit, which was a really cool touch at the time.

There are SO many more skins than what you listed that have unique voice lines, although it seems they don’t really add them to new skins these days.

I’d be a heck of a lot more willing to pull the trigger on skin with a unique ult line and/or other lines/visual effects. Alas, not enough people seem to care and I think Blizzard holds that stuff hostage now to boost Mythics…Although, even those are often disappointing on that score too.

I also really wish they’d at least let us mix and match ult lines and such between skins. There’s quite a few skins I like on that score but not so much on visuals and vice versa. Besides, I’d think more customization would bring a solid boost to sales.

2025 and we still can’t mix & match the weapons that come with skins.

Ah, but see, that feature is only for Mythic and other paid weapon skins…which have frankly all been hideous so far :sweat:

A lot of the new legendary skins that are over $20 are just recolors of older legendary skins, too.

There was a leak about Blizzard that detailed what happened to such things, and its simply the $$$$ higher ups didn’t see the value of unique things that didnt cost money as worth it, such a voice lines, animation shorts, free skins, short stories, events, etc.

So they canned it, and now we have OW2 :slight_smile:

At the very least they could have Sombra say “Make mischief!” in English and Spanish when she uses her ultimate.

Agreed.

For me, its the SFX. EDM and Porshe D.Va are great examples. The unique SFX for those two skins are next-level. I wish all Legendaries had unique SFX like those.

You forgot Jingle Tracer skin? That skin is the best!

“Dashing through the snow!” everytime you blink, “You were on the naughty list!” when you kill someone, etc.

And the Cowboy Bebop skins play a little trumpet when you get a kill with one.
At least with the Sombra one.

Do Mythics even get unique voice lines? I feel like all I’ve ever noticed is the awful voice changer effect that they put on almost all of them.

even with mythics it’s just for friendlies, the enemy still hears the default ult voice line, i was very disappointed to learn that even with mythic ur ult line is the same lmao

wouldnt put it past greedard to make ult voice lines a shop item u buy with prisms
