Because you refuse to play the objective, because you keep chasing after their one support who stayed alive during a team kill, because you complain about not being healed when you’re out in africa.
Because once we make any progress on the robot, instead of waiting for him to reach the next checkpoint… YOU ALL scatter and push way forward and either leave me behind on the point (b/c someone has to be on it) or you all just abandon it and complain if i dont follow you.
Some forward movement/pushign past the bot is fine but not when he’s still in motion. Too often, people abandon the robot and someone (usually a moira) sneaks up on it and snags it.
I don’t like push because until OT (which increases respawn timer) capping the final check point is really tough which on paper sounds fine but too many games are so one sided at least for me to the point where one team spend the entire duration of the game struggling to keep the point alive outside spawn that really should have ended 5 minutes ago but will only finally end when the OT respawn timer finally finishes the game.
I hate being on either side of that tbh. You almost have to coordinate a near perfect 5k team kill in order to cap the bot so no one can keep staggering out to continually keep the point alive.
That’s really my only gripe with the map (a problem 2cp had as well) - other than that I agree with most of what you said.
Edit: oh and side note - I think most of us just prefer escort and hybrid. Those are the 2 best modes hands down and I think most everyone prefers to play those exclusively. I’d LOVE to ban all other maps lol.
I dont disagree with your criticisms but PUSH is only fun when the team playes correctly. Seems most just dont understand the dynamics of that mode and feel “too punished” for playing selfishly.
I think this is on them, not the game.
You know the best way to play push is not the objective… but to control the map.
Get a lead, then control the map. You don’t need to cuddle the bot. Esperança for example, if you get close to the first check point, it is best to just hold the high ground. Have a tracer player tap the bot to stop their push back, or to gain a little more distance if you’re winning the fights on the high ground.
That’s a valid strat, but not aall the time every time as so many people do in that map.
You need to babysit it while its in motion or at least fight close to it unti it hits a checkpoint, then you can push, but as soon as it starts moving in again, you should be fighting close to the point, esp. if the enemy team is trickling in.
Too often, I get in tehre and NO ONE will get even close to the bot and then it just quits moving and gets stolen back. It’s annoying AF.
I also spam heals on the bot while it’s in motion and I will follow the team once we’re out of a choke or whatever …but as soon as their tank and one support is down, i try to move back towards the bot so that it keeps it in motion.
It is literally THE strat used by people that have been coached. It is the most efficient way to play the map.
Colosseo. Ignore the bot to start and win the fight. When you you do. All push up and leave a high mobility hero to push, when they re-engage, all push up and leave the bot. Rinse and repeat each fight.
Once you have a good lead. Don’t worry about pushing, just control the map and the respawn check points.
That is actually a perfect example of playing the objective
Indeed. Playing it, without hugging it for dear life.
since i’m’ in QP or even arcade wehre people dont unerstand how that strat works…i’m not sure I can reasonably expect them to do it. The point is to push the robot all the way to the other side. If no one is doing that, you’re not going to win.
At least we can agree there, but any excuse to not be on it as this strat so heavily implies, seems to be carte blanche for NO ONe to get on it.
I dont see any reason why at least fighting ON IT or very near it should be so difficult to work
They don’t get in ranked either. Most players are too terrified to leave the bot/cart, even after they’ve won a fight. It is quite funny to watch sometimes.
I am surprised more don’t get banned… there is literally a report option for being AFK…
I will say from experience comp and QP/arcade are vastly different in terms of which one is more likely to use strats… I agree with you people don’t often play the new maps effectively but i would almost never expect anyone to play meta strats in QP or arcade.
I personally only use those modes to mess around or pull of stupid moves that I know for a fact have almost no chance of succeeding just for lols and such or play an individual game where I know I’m more than likely gonna die. Comp is treated completely different.
I wouldn’t ever just expect people to play ‘serious’ in QP and especially not arcade.
I don’t like push because winning feels like losing, and losing also feels like losing.
the mode is imho maybe the biggest check on mental, it can easily feel like you lost it by getting just snowballed by a long distance.
But it can pretty often just suddenly turn around completely.
If people remain calm, that is.
Wait, theres a robot?
Push is not a bad mode. Esperanza is one of my favourite maps.
New Queen St and especially Colosseo are bad maps.
Yeah, esperanca is tier or two above the other two. Fortunately Colosseo is getting a rework at least.
