TL;DR The shield patch throws the tank class into the trash
I consider myself an Orisa main… before the patch. Orisa has adorable voice-lines and interactions with other players, her primary function is to help others, and she’s pleased to do it and is never selfish. After these changes, playing tank makes me feel like large idiot holding up a paper shield. I like her personality and how it feels to play her but now I feel hurt because these changes were uncalled for even if it was to end the so called “shield meta”.
Orisa’s changes are as such
- Base armor increased from 200 to 250
- Protective Barrier health reduced from 900 to 600
- Fortify cooldown decreased from 10 seconds to 8 seconds
To me, a tank is a hero/character who protects their teammates in battle. Orisa’s kit doesn’t make any sense with changes like this. Her kit was meant for her original build. Sure she can now Fortify herself more than before but what’s the point of being harder to kill if you won’t have any more teammates around because they all dead?
Orisa’s shield is now 600 hp and one third the size of Winston’s “bubble”, which is an embarrassment! Her shield should be stronger, or at least do something unique if its smaller in size and have less health now!
I’m in favor of the upgrades to Winston and Dva, but I’m still on the fence about changes for Reinhardt. Seeing 1600 instead of 2000 on Reinhardt’s shield feels bad when its been at 2000 for so long. At least his shield can still protect his team. Sigma’s play-style didn’t change much and I still feel like I can be successful with him.
Edit: Winston shield is 700, not 600

The way I understand it, a tank creates space for the rest of their teammates. Her being supposedly harder to kill supposedly makes her more intimidating to the enemy, and thus they supposedly back off.

I have 54 hours competitive on Orisa and I don’t mind the shield nerf. I just wish they would buff Dva’s damage so I could feel like I have more reason to play her.
Orisa is pretty bad as a main tank.
But she’s pretty great as an offtank.

because the enemy team also has a shield the same hp as you

You are seriously sleeping on her extra 50 armor(in addition to armor revert) and Fortify coming back 2s quicker.

Not if they have any sense, they have a 1600 hp shield.
Fortify alone is not enough to allow her to make space. Even with the armor revert and 50 increase to her base armor. Have you seen the size of her head? She gets demolished especially since DPS weren’t adjusted with this patch.

Yeah, I keep hearing people say she’s good, but most of the teams I’ve seen are running Reinhardt or Wrecking Ball and the few Orisa teams I’ve seen haven’t done well.
They nerfed Orisa/Sigma too hard and Reinhardt wasn’t nerfed enough for the huge buffs he got.

Of course not. She also has healers, a shield, a CC ability and another tank amongst many other factors to help her out.
I’m thinking next patch will be what you’re looking for here. We at least know Hanzo is getting changes and I reckon other DPS heroes will too.

Man the deffinition of “rework” keeps getting less and less. Soon just changing your hero skin will be a rework.
Yeah they kind of made her a Bruiser…
shes not fitting for a main tank anymore…i really dont know what they want to archieve, but whathever they did, i dont agree with it…i dont think ill be playing tank as much as before again…
why does blizz kill all the heroes i have fun with?

It is pretty wack that Winston has a stronger barrier at 900 vs orisas 600 because winston can jump a football field away orisa is a turtle.
I played orisa today and want to know the truth? I will not be playing her anymore this patch. So sad. Like you said i feel like a big dummy with no shield and no mobility fortify isn’t good enough when you are focused down.
Sadly orisa is useless now. She is easy to kill i noticed also as even more proving this point.
