My internet crashed twice during a game, kind of near the end of the first round so we couldn’t make the final checkpoint, and again just before the second round started. I filled in as a healer and we did a really solid defense and they didn’t even capture the first point. We won, I got a three minute ban, lost 50sr and didn’t get any sr for winning the game.

Everyone is given at least 1 min to login to the game again before the system registers you as a leaver, even if you do come back to finish the match. Being registered as a leave, you get penalized for leaving the match and you lose the SR for that match even if your team wins.
Or perhaps they care too much about the 5 other people who almost lost the game because of you…
Or perhaps they are giving you incentive to try and resolve your issues before queueing again…
That would be fair if disconnecting doesn’t force you to restart the whole game.
I’ve only ever disconnected one time from a competitive game and it was because the game itself broke. It completely froze on the hero select screen so I ended up having to restart the match. I got back and was able to join, but I still took the SR loss even though we were able to win somehow.
Thankfully it’s a rare occurrence and only happened that one time for me, but I do think they should open up the avenue for us to appeal some games.
