I remember when role queue was first introduced into overwatch. It was amazing to get a support 100% of the time. However, this mess up queue times, and reduce freedom.
The semi-open 6v6 is a good middle ground. It feels better to lose when I get a chance to flex. If I feel someone is not playing their role correctly.

Yeah 6v6 limit 2 tanks and minimum 1 per role seems like the best overall open format – no 3+ tank stacks abuse, no role locks, and plenty of team comp options that are just not possible in standard role queues.

I will say that I’ve changed my mind on this.
I preferred 2-2-2 RQ for its stability, but have come to prefer the current format of 6v6 OQ M2T in this test.
The reasons:
- Lightning fast queue times.
- I can play all the roles at a high level, but that is meaningless if I’m locked into a single one.
- Tons more variety.
I really like playing with 3 support comps as a DPS. I sometimes lose the benefits of crossfire (pressure from multiple angles), but I have a lot more freedom to take more angles myself, even often getting a similar effect with a friendly support!

But we can’t have a behemoth fight with 6 tanks against 6 tanks.
its not terrible but it still has issues of people stacking supports and dps. Solo tank in 6v6 is pretty awful and not very sustainable.
This is describing a skill issue with personal / preferred character selection being a higher priority than what role the team needs the most. Good players will still choose to tank or fill any other void after the first 4 roles have been picked, while the rest will pick their favored character no matter how hard it throws off the team comp.
I vastly prefer fully role-less queue mode

OQ really works because it’s a side mode that only those who really want to play it typically do. The average player is not flexible enough to play the mode, which is why it was so terrible back when it was the only way to play.

I hope that they tighten M2T QP matchmaking, given that queue times aren’t nearly as much of an issue in the mode. But whatever, I’m really happy that we get to keep playing it next season.

most fun I had was against 4 or 5 dps comps.
they just roll over and die without any effort.
I prefer 6v6 RQ > all, but I’m totally fine with this current format as well
