😒 I know it's not coming

Need to get to sleep, but just to review.

  • We need a Dev to respond about the current “support” situation. (This won’t be healthy for the game for the rest of the year and after.)

  • We know Devs won’t respond till things cooldown… (Which with the virus going around, schools closed and likely other points… It’s going to be awhile…)

  • Rumors are going to form while this is all going on. (This will increase the toxicity going on.)

  • If Devs continue to be silent long enough… we are likely see a huge drop in Supports and Tanks… Thus increasing issues…

I know Devs are likely busy… with everything else going on to tackle this discussion here and now.

:expressionless: But I want to be professional about this.

Can we set up a date to talk about this?

If you don’t respond, just gonna set up default date of March the 26.

(If nothing happens… just more disappointment, I guess.)

This whole situation gives me mercy raid flashbacks tbh, going by that the devs will ignore it completely

It TOTALLY is, and not just the raid, but the entire ghetto thread thing.

No we don’t. This is borderline spam at this point.

Their response was that they know this game needs more healers and tanks and that there are already multiple healers and tanks in development.

It’s an answer that doesn’t address the issue if you’d ask me. we are currently having this problem and we will not get new heroes until OW2.

Would ONE more support really have done anything that much better? Try to be objective and say it would have made all the difference in 3 months because I’m gonna put my money on the same people claiming boredom and stagnation down the line and just demanding MORE stuff.

Did dps really needed one more hero? They have 16 to chose from… while tank and suppor put together dont even match up and with the hero banning making things a lot worst for tanks and supports… so did they need a new hero?

Frfr, it’ll blow over in a couple of weeks. Not like the devs actually care about our opinions anyway so I don’t see the point in 1000 echo threads

No. Not at all. But it’s the cycle and people are acting like they were denied some sort of messiah character.

EDIT: People built up their own expectations around their OWN conclusions and now are taking their anger out on the devs for doing what they’ve always done for something the devs never said or promised.

Between another DPS’er or another support, would getting a new support be the best choice.

  • Players have been asking for more variety in the support class.
  • A new support hero could appeal to some DPS players, which could only help lower queue times.
  • Tanks doesn’t get another counter.
(The biggest reason why there is a long queue time is because tank is the least played class.)

And:

  • It will not be a PR mess for Blizzard.
(They had to see the backlash coming, right?)

The nickname ‘Echo, the untimely’, is a very fitting nickname if you’d ask me.

I’m glad we getting a new hero, but this might be the first time a new hero isn’t liked at launch.

About the cycle, that’s something they choose to do. It’s not like they are forced to follow it, right?

They only have a roster of 7 heros which you are also limited by off healer and main healer and also add that bans are a thing now I can see why people are angry 1 new hero wont make mcuh of a change but it would be a breath a fresh air until ow2 since we are not getting a new untill.

Edit: also its another dps that will make supports life a living nightmare since she can just fly kill and fly away.

Personally it would’ve made a whole lot of difference because I only enjoy playing support and the roster has become quite stale. A novel hero would spark interest once again. Echo in particular has a fun fast play style like Tracer or Genji, which can’t be found in any support hero. And it would allow me to rotate between 3 heroes instead of playing the same 2 until OW2 comes (in a year, at least). I would’ve been excited to play her but as things are I find myself playing other games instead. This is me, but I expect other support players to be going through something similar.

Would a new support have gotten less flak? Sure.

However people have been asking for Echo like mad, not understanding what they’ve been asking for. The devs might have been thinking "well… they asked for Echo… ".

I’m also reasonably sure that PTR Echo is NOT release Echo, there’s just too much DPS in that highly mobile package. I cannot remember the last time I was able to slaughter ALL the training bots in less than 10 seconds. Even the shooty ones.

and do you really think DPS would swap to support? Like a really useful not “hey I can play this AS DPS” support? I have a feeling if they were gonna, they would have already. And where it counts: COmp, people play what they’re good at.

I truly do not feel a support would have the impact the forums seem to think on queues, nor does it seem like another DPS is going to make it WORSE. DPS gonna DPS, people gonna play Echo in QPC or QP like madmen. People act like suddenly supports and tanks are gonna switch , and while I few might, as soon as the honeymoon period wears off it’ll be business as usual.

Yes, it isn’t law. But it’s a business and businesses like to have structure.

It’s a breath of fresh air and then holding it for the next 10-12 months, maybe longer. Honestly people are blowing it out of proportion like mad.

I have a feeling she’ll be nerfed quite a bit before release, she’s kind of a terror right now for sure, but it’ll be nice to have another character that takes advantage of the vert in the maps, IMO. Pretty sure DVA will be all up in that as well.

Honestly that’s the only response I have heard.

It’s like Blizz’s Soon ™ which is supposed to be two years.

I just want actual info

tbh, I don’t understand why are they so silent meanwhile they can respond on forums from their homes. whatever. i think ow2 will fail because of silence they caused

It’s because they have to run by what they can and can’t say to the higher ups. Devs can’t just say whatever opinions they personally have as that can potentially make the company looks bad.

Highly dubious that many actually care.
And really, not sure what anyone expects other than “yeah we are aware, working on it”. Unless they expect they might push for 1-3-2 or something.
