I just finished my first placings

I just finished my first ever placing matches, and I can safelly say im the proud owner of a silver rank! Yes, I know for all the GM’s and Diamonds in this forum its, if not the garbage itself, I’m in the lid, but Im proud of it.

I’ll try to keep at it (Competitive takes soo long to find a good match) and maybe go up, or down, whatever destiny holds. But I wanted to share this achievement with all of you, thanks for all the tips I’ve gotten over the last almost a year I’ve had the game

Cheers

Hello, fellow silver. One important tip I picked up from here is to never leave your matches - even if it says you won’t be punished, you will be!

Thanks to Mr. Monstree for this one, from this thread: Leavers, Maybe a Fix? - #2 by anon59807420

Grats on your climb out of bronze! Next goal: Gold.
You’ll get there, mate.

They never climbed out of bronze? They finished placements and got silver.

Hello! Yeah, I saw that… I actually had one draw in my placement matches cause all my team left after loosing the first round and the other team (who were all placed) let me win the second half.
It was funny cause i had an entourage of players behind me following me through the map while i completed the objectives hahaha.

Its the thought that counts , thanks RavageDionne, and Ninetales

Oh.
The concept of actual new players is a bit lost on me, I only fight smurfs these days…
Anyways, congrats Sainpa.

Do you remember when bronze people were bronze because they were actually terrible and not because they took a running leap and jumped into this dumpster with all the grace of an Olympic diver?

…I can’t.

As someone who has always been way too scared to even think about trying comp, I’m very proud of you! Congrats!:clap::blush:

Maybe someday I’ll be a big girl and not scared to try it too. :pensive:

I’m not even sure if thats a compliment or not… But its so well phrased, I love it.

Oh, it took me a while to actually get into it, i tried doing placement three times but never actually went through to the end cause I was scared.

I just said F it, if worst comes to worst I will have tried and wear my bronze badge with honour… and here we are.

After silver try gold, after gold try plat, after plat be diamond, after diamond reach master, after master stay gm, after GM finish T500. And after T500 leave the game and stay on these forum because you don’t want to play this game anymore.

And after that then uninstall.

For you my friend, it is. Silver might be the ‘trash can lid’ of the ranks, but it’s still the top of the garbage heap.

For those of us down there in that weird sludge that accumulates on the bottom of the can, we can only dream of such a position.

Let me try and use a similar metaphor. You know how there’s those rich people that try to go ‘slumming’ and act like they’re one of the Poor™ but at the end of the day as soon as they get bored/things get too hard for them, they can go back to their cushy and comfortable life?

Imagine that, but before those rich people go gome, they pull over and proceed to kick the absolute excrement out of some homeless guy.

And then you have the average Bronze player experience.

That sounds horrible!
But I guess it IS what a lot of higher elo people do with lower ranks, specially bronze…
I for one don’t think of other ranks as different classes, we’re all in this for fun, so if i ever derank to bronze, so be it, as long as I’m having fun I don’t care

I do, because I was one of them.
I’ve worked my way to peaking at around 3.6k on one my accounts, but I’ve given up on comp in general, to be honest.

Last season was my first season as well ever trying competitive. I placed silver too. And I was proud of it. This season, I can only hope to do better than before. Well done on taking the steps needed to try and break forth into a competitive area.

Honestly, it’s kind of weird being new to a game too. I’d played WoW since Vanilla. I know everything, how to minmax, hit 2300 multiple seasons, etc. Then I came to OW and man, I died a lot. Still do! But it’s fun to learn something new.

Yeah it really is, in my case I had quit gaming for 4 years, I got a job in a design company and had got a mac after my pc broke down, so I just got the possibility to play recently, and man was i rusty

It’s the strangest thing.
I just assume all low level accounts I see are smurfs, and if someone says otherwise, I’d assume they’re a troll.
This game jades you pretty well, it appears.

Just don’t expect silver players to play or coordinate like gm’s and your fine to enjoy comp.

Now I wonder…
When my team says let him win.
And I stop him from winning.

Can I get reported?.

Don’t think you can get reported for doing that, technically the whole other team was throwing by not doing anything to stop me.
But its a wholesome interaction so maybe you’d get reported anyways… some people are weird like that.

I mean, its silver.
There not too much to lose.

Would expect some rage in plat/dia or higher.

What would be a nice addition: upon a dc/leave in comp the bigger team has the option to send some players to the bench.

To recreate a fair match, if they want.
Bc if 1 just goes afk, he gets kicked…
