the main mode of this game. I reinstalled the game after like a month to try it again since i just wasnt able to have fun on this 5v5 format which is TERRIBLE, and 6v6 OQ bring all the fun on this game again. Together with the fun, a feeling of nostalgia came and i remembered the time i started playing the game in 2017 when i used to live in a house i dont even live anymore.
Tanks finally DIE when they make mistakes and me as a DPS could really make the difference even when my tank was dead. It feels great.
The annyoing heroes stopped being so annoying. Doomfist is not anymore that hero that stays in your backline forever doing mistakes one after another and surviving it, if he do that, he dies. Freja also feels that she is not that strong also. Sombra…Well, Sombra i guess is annoying no matter the format
All this happiness in having fun again on the game made me want to play tank or support again, i had fun on all roles on 6v6 so not a single game was a bad experience.
The stomps are not so common cause in 6v6 the “tank dependence” is not that high. I mean, in 5v5 if my tank was worse than the enemy tank, it was already a lost game. In 6v6 if my tank is worse than the enemy tanks, maybe the other tank can balance things out. Or maybe i could switch from DPS/SUP to tank (If we have only 1) and then the tank diff is not so “striking” anymore.
If 5v5 is gonna always be the main mode of the game (Which i hope not), please dont EVER retire the 6v6 mode. I’m sure there’s a lot of players like me that just have fun with 6v6 and we love the game so much to stop playing it…
It’s not popular enough to be the main mode at this point. Last time they gave numbers a few weeks after adding the 6v6 comp, they said it was played 3x less than 5v5. Doesn’t make sense to shift to the less popular mode. As of now both are available, so if people enjoy the 6v6 side mode, they are free to play it.
i forgot 5v5 even existed… i ONLY play 6v6 in QP AND comp.
5v5 is miserable. I don’t even understand how anyone plays it. It’s too bad most of the game is balanced for 5v5 still and anything 6v6 is an afterthought.
5v5 was one of the biggest mistakes they ever made with OW. It failed in making it “visually clearer” too.
Speaking as someone who hasn’t played 122 RQ since Max 2 Tanks 6v6 was put into the game: I don’t really feel that this is true. If blue team has two good tanks and red team has one good tank and one… not so good tank, that’s pretty much that unless someone else entirely is able to step up to the plate. Red team’s screwed.
is it so, mr obvious? obviously it is less popular, the main mode is 5v5 since the OW2 was launched. Put a 5v5 mode on OW1 and it will also be less popular since its not the main mode. Launch Overwatch 3 with 6v6 beeing main mode and wait 2 years and launch 5v5 mode, 5v5 mode will be less popular than the 6v6 mode. People ending up prefering 5v5 in this game cause simply it is the main mode and people mandatorily got used to playing it.
6v6 wasn’t available for most of OW2’s life. Some people got used to 5v5 and won’t play 6v6.
Blizzard don’t like to admit mistakes.
They’ve never officially said PVE is cancelled for example. If you’re a casual player, you still think it’s coming. They won’t even admit it got cancelled.
Thing is that 6v6 is just better for the game, the game was made for 6v6. All time they spent developing the game it was thinking at a 6v6 experience. And they just change it to 5v5 and made little adjustments thinking that it would fit 5v5. It obviously wouldn’t be that easy.
6v6 is much more easy to balance and the OW team just wont admit they cant balance it in 5v5.
The thing i dont understand is how the OW Team itself cant realize the game is for 6v6 experience and that its so much easier to balance. Saying 5v5 beeing “popular” is what made it be the main mode its just nonsense. I doubt they can say 5v5 is main mode cause its better for the game, cause it obviously isnt
Even though I play 6v6 OQ comp more than 5v5, I much prefer 5v5 in pretty much every aspect. The only reason I play 6v6 is because it’s not the main mode and it’s overall a bit more chill.
That being said, the actual reason I play it cause 5v5 OQ was my main mode and that’s gone so I have to suck it up and play this inferior mode instead… when I’m in the mood to actually sweat, I play 5v5 though I’m just too tired to do that most of these days.
Actually OW2 and it’s new heroes were made for 5v5.
But which mode is better is totally subjective. At the moment I prefer 6v6 more.
This is rubbish. Having 2+ tanks always made OW1 harder to balance.
But the big reason they went to 5v5 was the role distribution amongst the player base was 20/40/40%. This is why DPS and support queues times were so long in OW1. no where near enough tank players. Something they’ve still not rectified. Something MR is also struggling with. This is why you get more DPS centric tanks being designed like Mauga, or high mobility maniacs like Hazard.
It’s clearly not the better mode, as the player base dropped significantly when OW2 changed to 5v5. that’s a fact.
you’re acting like it’s more popular because its 5v5 lol.
i’m talking major mistakes. Not things that can be adjusted by numbers.
find me one. a statement, a press release, ANYTHING that isn’t a bloomberg leak. they haven’t.
Oh no, I’m that person. I never liked tanking in ow1, but actually kinda like it in ow2 as the one strong tank. Maybe it’s due to not depending on the other person and being a race to pick the more desired off tank instead of main tank. Or running a crap comp with 2 off tanks.
Wait you’re actually saying that the OW2 new heroes are made for 5v5? Again, Mr. Obvious? with all the respect but its like obvious saying heroes developed for a 5v5 game were made for 5v5. But all the old heroes are not and they are the majority.
And yeah i can see how easier it is to balance tanks on 5v5, tanks beeing final bosses that never dies and can make a hundred mistakes before beeing punished for it and dealing tons of damage are definitely a good balance for tanks…
What fact is this? Cause the way I remember it, the game was pretty much dead by the end of OW1, and OW2 instantly had a HUGE influx of new players. Obviously we don’t have any numbers out there, but I’m pretty sure that even right now, there are more players playing OW2 than there were after the first year or two of OW1.
I think the years of ow1 show that isn’t true. And moving to role queue to help with it. Ow1 also has the metas stay for so long. At least in ow2 the meta swaps faster and there is so much more hero diversity. Instead of same 2 tanks and 2 supports for 10 months straight.
