I tried out the role queue on PTR for support, hitting some of my all time highest heals and assists.
I lost every single game. I literally have never, ever been in bronze.
Career high of diamond currently high gold - low plat when playing casually.
For whatever reason, I placed bronze support.
If this is what I’m going to have to expect for role queue on live servers, I want no part of it.
Wait, so you lost every game and you got placed bronze?. I understand you are probably not bronze but climbing out should be no issues for a diamond support player. If you do find yourself struggling that’s unlucky. I personally got placed higher than my live sr but I expect it will even out eventually. Just give it some time and dont give up on the system just because you got placed lower than expected.

If you think I have time to play hundreds of games, just to climb back to my current standings Blizzard is severely mistaken.
If you dont have time why do you care so much. If something bothers you then spend time to fix it. If it is not worth your time then you should not at all be offended that you got placed lower than you are currently.
I will abandon it, I like to play Comp because it’s a step above QP.
I will not play from bronze up, I refuse.
That’s okay. Sucks to see someone go just because they didnt have the determination to improve after falling down. But hopefully you have a great time playing whatever other games you enjoy
You don’t have to, it’s just on PTR. You’ll get another chance when it goes live, and it works both ways. If you win all 5 your rank will go up significantly
What do I gain from climbing back to my current standing? The hopes of some-what decent games?
Determination is indicative of achievement, with effort and dedication I can “achieve” a higher standing and more engaging games.
To erase all of my previous experience to only have to climb out of a standing I’ve never been in before is frustrating and defeating.
I understand that most hardcore OW players will provide the time required to climb if necessary, but if a general OW player currently in mid-tier ranks had this happen to them I can firmly speak for them in saying they’d drop this game like a hot brick .
I’m guessing the PTR is only filled with the most hardcore players. I don’t know how the SR system works on PTR. Is it based on ALL players, or just those on the PTR?
It’s PTR. Population definitely not representative of Live player base.

This is probably the #1 reason most players don’t climb.
It is just a game, after all.
You can probably play DPS Moira to Gold. I’d guess from that point on you would want to group with a DPS you know is good and pocket them.
A really good Lucio or Zenyatta will always shine in every group. Ana is also still pretty good.
Rank doesn’t mean a whole lot. Like ppl find themselves in a low rank sometimes and get all mad about it but you are playing the game with and against people that can’t find the pointy end of a stick.
Once you are like… Mid-Gold/Plat, that’s how the entire ladder is man. Players are dumb, but better.
Just play for the love of the game man. If you’re not bronze, it will change. It’s not hard to be better than the bottom 10%.
Don’t get tilted. It’s the freaking ptr. Nothing matters there. It’s for testing purposes only. Once it goes live you will be given your normal rank

5 games should not cause you to drop into bronze if you were plat or higher beforehand.
PTR playerbase is smaller, for one, and also the MMR for the PTR is very wonky; most players will probably only play one or two matches of quickplay on a hero that just got changed, therefore have little to no “true” definition of where they should be placed.
Add that ontop of the fact that separate SR for each role acts as a “new account” per say, and is like doing a fresh placement on a lv25 account, but in this case, effectively a lv5 or lv10 account with little to no idea where you should be placed EXCEPT a win or a loss.
Oh, and SR in PTR role queue is wildly high, one match can give you +/- 100SR

Its not about edge. I am genuinely sad that a player will leave just because they did their placements bad. If anything I tried to make OP get angry/ mad at me so that he would not quit and try to get back his rank. I do agree however you should not place 1500 sr lower than you currently are at just because you lost 5 games, its a dumb system but I don’t think it will take long for anyone to get back at their original rank if we assumed it was on live already.
