Overwatch is now prompting me to enter a phone number, I suppose in preparation for OW2 being free to play. However, when I enter in my phone number, I get “Please enter a post-paid phone number”.
I have Cricket Wireless, and I’ve had this phone number for 15 years. Everyone else in my house also has Cricket, so that’s not an option. I’ve played and enjoyed Overwatch since the year it came out, and I’ve even bought the Watchpoint Pack in preparation for Overwatch 2. Are Cricket users not going to be able to play anymore?

As far as we know currently - sadly the answer is yes, you can’t play anymore. Hopefully Blizzard will do something about this.

Yeah this is pretty not good, the anti-smurfing efforts are going too far. They should at least limit the phone number requirement to competitive play, not general play

Yes, unfortunately it seems like a lot of Cricket users are not able to use their phone numbers.
It’s a huge hassle, but you may be able to switch to another similar service. I use Straight Talk (which I think is pretty similar), and my number worked when I added it yesterday.

So…some prepaid phones DO work.
…and some postpaid phones DON’T work.
Yet the error message states, “Please enter a post-paid phone number.”
Blizzard, I think you need to update your error message.

so are you suggesting straight talk as an alternative to an actual phone provider? im trying to weigh my options and so far i have straight talk and tracphone, but im not sure if you reccomend it… for its price…?
Looks like I won’t be able to play anymore and there’s nothing I can do about it.
