Still, I would love to see the Overwatch IP expand. A F2P Overwatch BR could be cool and the thing to remember is that it doesn’t have to affect our objective based main game.

Making it will affect current game one way or another.
first of, how much work they would have to put to make it, and maintain
Secound, if they would gona do it as br, it would need differend balance changes than main game, again more work that would not benefit main game just take them time to do.

they can make it a hero based BR with its own selection of heroes that won’t show up in Overwatch itself

Base on how fast they made current heroes its bad idea. It take them long because of how polish they are, if they would start working on differend set of heroes with differend animations, look, weapons etc, it would take them so much time that it would affect main game a lot.

Lastly, remember what was going on when fortnite was created, epic games killed off other projects, and turn down idea of making fortnite story mode a lot at time just to make battle royal cash out more. It could happend in this dev team too.

What about if the Overwatch BR was on really-small-for-the-genre-maps, a team of 6 vs a team of 6, there were respawns but they were from ground locations where the games would also start at, it was more about objectives than being the last person alive, there’s no ring of death or scrounging for anything, and people stopped trying to cram Overwatch into a genre it is not made for.

H style fight ? 4 teams each start from one lag of H 2v2 when one team kills the other team they move to the center of H if they are able to capture the center this will open a mid lane which they will have to fight with the respawning team and the Aİ and the final boss is the king of the hill bastion other team will try to protect the bastion while the first team witch captured the point attacks :)?(or3v3 or 6v6)
