I have a question for tank players

Why do most of y’all still push Top left Numbani?? Like is it a habit or something because when I play tank I just go bottom at this point. I swear I’ve seen most tanks from Silver to 4.3 push Top left for some reason. Also hey fourms mods I “totally” love y’all

To establish high ground control. You can push through main or bottom left, but you’d need to deal with attacks from high ground and long sightlines. Pushing top right isn’t possible unless your team has strong vertical mobility.

So we go top left to secure high ground.

I think it is the easiest way to control high ground but force a choke fight while not giving the other team height advantage and gaining information on the enemy’s position. I think it’s always worth at least testing the strength of the defense, probing and pushing this area, while some of your flankers harass the side to find vulnerabilities. I think this is okay, but it’s important to realize when it isn’t a viable route to take and to explore other options after gathering information on the way the enemy is defending.

I don’t push there unless I’m brawling and there’s no Junkrat. In Numbani I’m usually Winston anyway, so I go coast or main-high ground.

why would you do this? you’re just going to be abused by high ground.

Although top left isn’t always the best idea, it’s often best to get high ground control.

I’ve seen too many Junks and Echo to take the risk anyways. + I usually comm it and win anyways. Also I play D.va and Winston so I can push Top right if I want to

Well that explains it then. Obviously you don’t want to be pushing top left on winston for example. D.va isn’t bad though because you can eat spam if for some reason they’re running a spam comp (which is quite unusual for that map but whatever). Left or Right, doesn’t matter, always go high ground (its OP af)

I just hate top left.

I was playing earlier and I had a team go Topa left vs Junk and Sombra and they were Double Shield then went Winston and Hog. I didn’t know if I should be tilted or just laugh at them

I honestly say that you should ask for one of your teammates to go Mei/Symm so you can get on the opposite high ground as any tank.

Seems like a power move that nobody does.

Main gets you spammed from high ground and straight to point gets you surrounded and spammed from all directions. High ground important that way.

Because going below gets you circled by enemies on high ground and both front and back. You could atleast give the high ground route a try.

Ill try it because high ground ya know? But if they have a junkrat its not worth it and time to come up with a new strategy.
The issue comes when the rest of the team refuses to adapt.

I usually play dva though so it’s easier to work different angles with boost.

Numbani attack is prime Monkey territory so I like to dive the top right highground and harass the supports :sunglasses:
It often works out really well because the supports are usually pretty isolated on that point.

I usually play Hammond first point to scout.

If enemy is high right, I can usually do a couple of soft dives and get them off or to back off.

If enemy is high left, I tell the team to go under and just barely step on the point to make them drop.

If enemy is on point/main (happens more often than it should), I tell team to take high ground.

Because top left is good if you’re on a brawl comp, double shield comp, or literally anything besides a dive comp. You HAVE to take high ground on any comp, dive doesn’t go top cause it can just jump there more easily. The reason you’ve seen 4.3 teams do it is because it’s GOOD. OWL teams do it, contenders teams do it, GMs do it, and everyone else should do it.

I only go low ground if I know they have bunker set up up top right side (the side opposite the attack high ground) so i can force them down from high ground by standing on the point under them haha

Controlling the top left and the top back right corner are the keys to winning Numbani.

It’s impossible to play the objective if a team plays these two angles and creates a crossfire down onto the point from them.

The only thing you can do is push one of these two positions, and top left is the most accessible “easiest” to gain access to and control.

It also gives your team access to flank the back right high ground.

Walking to point w/o the ability to peel high ground with your hero is a death sentence.

When I cannot go top left (b/c of heavy spam) my preference is going coast side to the stair case and then pushing either position depending on the state of the match

Top left is the fun route

Far left feels bad, bottom doesn’t work for Orisa or Winston comps very well, center is just typically a bad idea unless your team is already pushing a different direction, top right only provides value if you have a dive into a specific enemy formation

Top left is just the clearest path to victory a lot of the time, bottom if it’s just not working usually

Um… To get a cheeky hook? Why else? I didn’t ask for people to follow me. They just feel that strong leadership energy and feel compelled to stay in my aura. It makes them feel safe and protected. Not my fault it gets them killed by whatever various spam.
