I got suspended after my PC run into driver issue

During competitive play my PC crashed. After restart I rejoined the match and finished it. We won. Even then I got penalized in my competitive score and got suspended for 8 hours. That is really messed up

you didn’t come back within the allotted time so you suffered the penalties. Yah that sucks but in a game like Overwatch 1 minute is worth 2 team fights so you being gone for any longer and you missed 1/4th of a point.

How on earth am I supposed to accomplish such a task, when it’s clearly OW fault that my system crashed? All I missed is last few meters to the final point, and finished the defend match fully. That is beyond ridiculous. Probably this game no longer exists for me

How can overwatch control of your system crashes, change the settings optimise It for your computer, also it is a bit stupid that you can get band for a DC if u come back and your team win

My point is - I am unfairly penalized (disregard the crash - although I would expect OW team have a lot of telemetry related to such things and try to optimize around them). 8 hours ban is super ridiculous - especially since I skipped less then 5% of game and came back to finish it in defense round.

Unfortunately all disconnections and game crashes counts as leaving the match and will be penalized appropriately. The game server has no way to discern a legitimate disconnection or game crash from one that is forcefully caused by a dishonest player to bypass leaver penalties. You can learn about this policy here:

WARNING!

If you are at the 8 hour ban that means you have left multiple games already and risk getting a season ban if you continue to leave games. A season ban will disqualify your season results and lose all end-of-season rewards and you will be one step closer to a permanent ban from Competitive Play. Suspensions and bans from Competitive Play CANNOT be appealed. If you are crashing frequently, AVOID playing Competitive Play.

You have not provided any details to the nature of your crash so we cannot provide specific details on how you can possibly resolve the issue. If your game client is crashing please check these starting tips for advice:

Remember if you see the message, “Lost Connection to the Server” in the title screen or the message “Failed to Connect to Server” in yellow text in the text chat box, this means there is something that disrupted your connection to the game server and not a problem with the game server itself. There can be a variety of reasons this happens including those that don’t disconnect your computer from the Internet. There is great troubleshooting to start with that can most likely resolve most issues and I encourage you to check them out here:

Otherwise please provide detailed description of your crash and we can provide more detailed advice on how to resolve the issue to prevent future crashes. In any case no suspension or penalty will be reversed by Blizzard.

Good luck to you with those policies. Read again what happened - crash -> rejoin -> finish game -> penalty. I do not see that as a fair play regarding me. You just lost a customer, if that counts for something.

Rejoining a game without penalty is only possible during certain phases of the game and within a timely manner. If you leave a game either during the pre-game or during the first minute of the game, the game will automatically cancel (remember the 10 second rule does not apply to the leaver, but as a warning to other players that the match will cancel). You can rejoin the match during the initial hero selection screen if you are lucky enough to quickly reconnect though.

Otherwise, you can only rejoin any-time after one-minute of match time has passed up until the match completes. However you only have two minutes to do so without penalty. If you rejoin a match after two-minutes, you will still automatically be marked with a loss and be penalized with a -50 SR cut and a minimum ten-minute suspension. This rule ensures that no one can abusive the leaver system by attempting to return to a match after deliberately leaving in order to avoid such penalties. Furthermore leaving three or more times in a single match will result in an automatic penalty. If you fail to return to a match by the time it ends normally (regardless of match result) you will be penalized.

I see there is lack of trying to communicate with me. When you state obvious things multiple times they don’t become more acceptable. I have learned it the hard way what rules ARE. Are they fair to me or anyone else in the matter - I don’t think so.

Trying to explain technical flaws of current approach is irrelevant. Trust me - there are many ways to bucketize client termination and distinguish system level crash from user induced action to leave game. The fact that you don’t have that bucketization means nothing in terms of existence of such ways (and what it’s worth I know what I am talking about here).

All I see is - there is no customer focus in this thread. Just a blame on customer to justify current behavior. That is not great mentality to apply on a user oriented product. I rest my case here. I wish luck to all of the OW community and other Blizzard titles (WoW being my favorite).

Please describe one of the available methods. I am curious.
