I feel bad for the artist that worked on Mercy's new skin

I bet he/she thought they made a great job, which totally is BTW an incredibly well made skin, and than because Jeff made a precedence for it being a “dark skin”…the labor of love the artist worked on is a point of contention in this angry forum.

also, green looks good on Mercy, she totally works this color, don’t @ me!

The skin is amazing, you can complain if you want but don’t demand a rework on a skin just because you don’t like it.

Hanzos only got changed because people complained about it with a reason, it didn’t look like in the comic.

Its a problem with hyping a skin for anniversary. Like the D.Va one last year

Someone said the person who designed the skin didn’t know who Mercy was. If that is true it would explain the “odd” choices.

He just said that a cool skin is coming up, not that it will break the internet or similar

He didn’t lie :eyes:

No one hyped it other than the forum goers themselves.

“For mercy, It’s fun to do light and dark skins”

I’m still waiting for that “dark” skin.

We’ve been spoilt with the amount of cool skins we’ve had. This skin would be welcomed in almost any other game.

Its not even a bad skin, it just gets overshadowed by other Mercy skins.

If you notice, this thread is actually referring to the dark skin Jeff implied we were getting.

“Dark” is one of those subjective things. Compared with her other skins, dragoon definitely can qualify as “dark”

For dark there are Devil, Imp and Witch. Possibly a Necromancer will come once.

I mean, Witch?
Imp?
Devil?
Those were the kinds of Dark skins they were going for, a hard contrast to her Angel-like character design.
They like doing light/dark skins for her, like yin and yang; this doesn’t mean that we were expecting a dark-themed skin.

Artists should expect both hate and love for their work, some will always find flaws others will love it for what it is.

Also sometimes the artwork is much better than models in-game due to details missed out or reduced to help the model team.

Jeff stretches the truth or is just blatantly ignorant and builds up hype the wrong way. Someone probably should advice him to stop.

How has he done this in reference to the topic of this thread? All he said was that we are getting a cool Mercy skin and implied it would be dark. And we did.

Like when he said D.va’s skin would break the internet? but hey, community loves to hype up everything that he says

I don’t see it as a dark skin unless it was an actual Dragoon skin but it is clearly a dragon, not dragoon. Not sure why they call it dragoon unless to sound fancy?

I think constructive feedback is OK. Angry hyperbole much less so.

I remember being part of an alpha program for a game once that had a “how to give feedback” topic stickied on its forums. I reckon a lot of people here could do with reading something like that.

Not really. He said it would cool to do “light and dark” skins. Not that this skin will be either or, as seen in the screen a few posts above.

If I was an artist and I forgot to draw some trousers on a character, OP, I wouldn’t be surprised to recieve criticism.

I wouldn’t necessarily call a green/bright green dragon armor as “dark.”

The question Jeff was asked was about whether or not she would be getting a dark skin.

Jeff’s answer was “for mercy, it’s fun to do light and dark skins… so good odds [she’ll be getting one]”. That’s a pretty clear implication.

No. Symmetra’s dragon skin is a dragon. This is clearly someone wearing dragon-looking armour, like a dragoon.

It’s dark in terms of it being opposite to her clean, slick “angelic” theme. It fits.

Besides, it is entirely subjective. Jeff clearly believes it is dark so he is not lying when he says that.
