First of all, Mercy isn’t a low skill hero, she’s one of the hardest in the game. Her pistol has such a low fire rate and it does so little damage, plus it’s projectile. I struggled for awhile to get my average KDR past 15/1. Not sure why y’all are complaining about getting dove either, you’re supposed to be playing on the front lines. The only thing I can sympathize with is how annoying it is to hear constant “I need healing” spam, like wtf am I supposed to do?? Just don’t get hit, it’s not my problem.

Mercy is certainly not one of the hardest heroes in the game. On Support or otherwise.
You’re confusing her lack of agency to play make (which is nearly non-existent) with her ease of use for value.
Some players dislike her because of her play style and think it’s too simple. Others hate that she’s being left behind with how the game has been progressing over recent years. Those are the players who are more likely looking out for the health of the game itself.

I may be stupid
I like the early Bogur video if him trying to get GM in LW’s first couple of months and no one could do it pretty much. The character was that trash.
In order to impact matches you had to play flawlessly because the power wasn’t there. Which it is indeed far harder to play a Mercy or LW to high ranks than it is many of the other supports because they lack the power. Due to that it requires more time, more perfect plays in everything you do.
Many people play the ‘easier’ heroes because their power is greater. They can suck more, but still come out ahead for the power it provides.
I’ve completely given up trying to ever use Mercy because she’s such a bad character that its easier to play other supports and win than it is to use her. Its too hard to play flawlessly for such little reward. Meanwhile, I can pick up Ana for some hardcounterpick match-ups and completely suck at the character, but just abuse the tank and get wins.

Doesnt her pistol do like 10% damage on all squishes? If so…thats far from little dmg especially considering her proj size
Its 100 DPS… Which is the same as Hanzo/Widowmaker simply firing their 1sec charge shots.
The only saving grace on it is that it can headshot with large projectiles, so if people are stupid and walking a predictable pattern you can get a very strange 200 DPS Mercy. Which does surprise people who think they can just run at a Mercy for a very easy kill and need to remember don’t walk in a straight line.

This is exactly why power is deterministic in how easy a character is to play. Tracer is the perfect example of this right now. She has an incredibly high skill ceiling, but even an average Tracer can succeed because she’s still powerful when you’re playing inoptimally and making mistakes. Conversely, you have to play so well on Lifeweaver to maintain a good win rate that he’s difficult.

People call her “easy” or “no skill” because he mechanical skill floor is low.
Basically unless its a pin point skill shot, many people will call it skill less.

I’m not refuting anything you’re saying, I just want to point out that the only reason this is true is because the devs refuse to allow more than one playstyle of hers to work, and that one playstyle is more niche than it should be for a TF2 Medic clone.
They can take her pistol away and her impact won’t even change a bit.
The correct way to play her is by not using the pistol at all.
no. She is skillless because doesn’t require even the minimum amount of aiming in an fps game. Doesn’t even have to look in a general direction 90% of the time.

Why would even think of getting flak kills as mercy?
I get them in comp with valk all the time. Even on Mercy if you don’t DPS at least a little at the opportune moments you’re likely to lose.
