Cass used to be the one pick that gave tracer something to think about. Torb possibly, but he isn’t consistent enough, vs Cass being basiclally a mobile turret vs a static one.
Now the 200hp, low mag damage etc just create too many break points. I will be very surprised if the Top500 isn’t anything apart from Tracer mains. Tracer will be the Sojurn of this season when you look at the top500, is my take.
Tracer is a difficult hero to counter, but heroes like Cassy, Torb and also Mei can work wonders against her. It all depends on how good you can play the heroes.
Last I looked, (like yesterday) Tracer was already heavily present in the top 100 (I didn’t look much further back). I don’t doubt this will be true, on the other hand given her health I don’t think it will change much in how effective Cass is against her, mag nade or not. If anything the mag nade will still do the job after 1 tap/force recall/etc.
She’s still gonna be heavily present though.
torb is actually one of the better counters to tracer on most maps due to the range of the turret and how annoying it is for the tracer.
anytime a flanker has to deal with the turret first it slows down the pace they play in.
that being said, there will always be heroes that are meta and without fail there will always be people who hate that.
we had meta genji for few weeks in season 2, instant hate. then it went down too reaper, more hate, eventually junkrat got in on this and of course he was hated.
this is to say nothing of sojourn’s prevalence in seasons 1 and 2.
the best counter to tracer is to make it hard on her to get a pick. meaning if you dont spread out and isolate yourselves the tracer pretty much cant do anything besides finish off low hp targets.
Zen is so good against Tracer.
Just charge up your volley and watch her drop.
If your a healer or tank the best counter to tracer is brig or rein
if your playing damage try mei, reaper, or if your feeling lucky hanzo
When I go against a tracer if my McGreenBean or Ashe isnt cutting it, i swap to Soldier. Strictly because hes more forgiving if i miss.

Torb counters tracer (and ball). She can’t contest him and his turrert keep her off his support the whole game.
+He doesn’t even need to be that accurate w/rivet gun bc of spread
Sym isn’t bad. Kirko and moria are ok against her.
Heroes with high mobility/good survivability work well against her.
