I don't need annoying pop-up ads on the launcher

I’m not buying any of your other games, Blizzard. Spamming the same ad once a month that I have to close to play the one I already bought isn’t going to chance my mind.

Just press the x my dude, you don’t have to buy it.

Overwatch can open without the launcher, can it not?

Blame Activision. Blizzard doesn’t exist anymore

Like by desktop icon/shortcut? It opens the launcher instead.

Oh, that’s unfortunate.

you can block 100% of the “content” in the launcher by filtering various hostnames in your hosts file:

  • content-ui.battle DOT net
  • telemetry-in.battle DOT net

(downloading still works)

Could we get a guide with pix pls?
Is the “host file” the battle.net.exe?
Do you open that with the text edit and paste those 2 things in there?

Clicking an X takes 2 seconds. You could have looked at the launcher before posting my dude.

Use Adguard, it blocks everything. I still consider it my best purchase ever.

No pictures. Host file is file in Windows, where you can edit where your PC looks for certain websites. It’s located somewhere in Windows folder, and used in format “IP address related website”. So if you use IP 127.0.0.1 or 0.0.0.0, then your PC won’t connect to those websites.

For example,
0.0.0.0 content-ui.battle DOT net

You shouldn’t have to do that just to get rid of unwanted ads.

Also it is still better than streams that plays automatically.

That sounds ghetto. No idea Blizzard was one of “those” types. Was it always like that, or desperate times call for desperate measures?

Now they are in launcher, in future im sure they will do in game one for people who dont buy OW2.

U can open overwatch directly without the launcher

Go read both sentences again.

“Spamming once a month”

Dude, once per month is not spam. Not even close. It takes a second at best to click the X.

How the heck do you think you’re gonna tell a company not to advertise their games on their own launcher?

The launcher is there for all their games. You being on the Overwatch tab doesn’t mean you should only see Overwatch content. Some people actually play more than one Blizzard game.

The world does not revolve around you.

Hit the X and move on.

im tired of the pop-out bs too. Nothing like having the client CHUG and hang-up trying to load some ad.

I dont mind if they want to promote their stuff on their client. But we don’t need excessive windows.

Make a shortcut using this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Battle.net\Battle.net Launcher.exe" --exec="launch Pro"

and set your battlenet launcher to:
Settings > ON GAME LAUNCH > "Minimize Battle net to the system tray"

You’ll only see a glimpse of the launcher before it will self minimize.

Good luck!

I really miss the unskippable previews on DVDs I paid $20 for.
