I really don’t.
Why ask for 2 2 2 when Blizzard has built you your own little system that arranges it for you?
All the horrors prior to role queue have come flooding back: weird ‘balanced’ comps that make no sense (just for the sake of 2 2 2) coupled with players who’ve no idea how to even perform that role ie. Dva’s who play budget sniper from the team’s backline, and the worst part is the outright refusal to switch from a 2 2 2 composition to counter the enemy team’s 3 tank or 3 damage composition. It’s like role lock without a lock!
Playing 2 2 2 in a setting which doesn’t force a fixed composition is ludicrous. Why not queue in the regular game which guarantees you 2 tank, 2 damage, and 2 support?
I was neither for nor against role queue. But after having been reminded of how bad it feels losing because you got ‘fillers’ on your team who’ve no experience on their hero, I think I’m now a proponent of role queue. It’s not perfect, but hey. This game becomes a lot more enjoyable when you can just focus on your contribution to counter the enemy from what heroes you have available.

As long as no one demands that there’s 2/2/2 I don’t really care what people play. I do have heroes in all 3 roles that I can run but if they’re taken or I don’t feel comfortable I’ll let it be known or just not play it.
When things go poorly, the thing about open comp is that I can shift into a separate role that I personally feel can counter the issue.
When someone demands that we “need” a 2/2/2, I’ve been finding everyone else just tells them to shut up anyway.

It happens EVERY. GAME. THAT. I’M. IN.
And because of that, people reluctantly lock in heroes they aren’t any good at

What rank are you sitting around? I’m hovering in mid plat and for the most part people do start off 2/2/2 but no one demands people play it. Even if people go goats or triple/quad DPS anyone who says/demands 2/2/2 gets shut down.

Seriously? I will tell you why for me.
- Long queue times. Especially when someone leaves when you finally get in a match and the game closes so you wait another 10 mins. So 20 mins 1 for lopsided match.
- Queue times affecting the roles. I get non stop dps healers and 2 dive tanks because they want to dps but don’t want to wait the dps queue time. This results in many losses.
- I rather have people play a hero they want and have a 1-4-1 comp vs a forced 2-2-2 with 2 dps heals and 2 dive tanks.
- Getting a lot better matches in the open queue. People are actually switching and adjusting. Getting actual shield tanks too. Have won plenty and even with at times a 1-4-1 comp.
Open Q, Best Q
I like the freedom to be able to change roles. Some maps I have a certain hero that I always seem to win on.
Role Q is fine, probably better for overwatch that they balance with role q in mind than try to nerfs goats components.

I’m bouncing between high bronze/low silver (1300-1600)
I haven’t kept a tally, but most of my losses in open queue were with people who couldn’t play the hero they were on effectively. And I know why people do this, it’s to appease those who make these 2 2 2 requests at the start of each game.
This. This. THIS. 110%
Sadly, all I get is the same thing I’ve come to expect from role queue. The same exact system. I actually win most of my games with 4-5 damage heroes because people are playing how they actually want to play!! Not being forced into ‘filling’ a role so someone else’s obsession over balance can be met.

I mean… 2-2-2 is a rock solid formation that allows you to outplay a lot of weird hero matchups that aren’t 2-2-2. Naturally it’s far from a one size fits all but it’s pretty darn close.
My problem with Open Queue isn’t the concept, it’s the player base. If I was always playing with people willing to switch then OQ would absolutely be the best way.
Unfortunately human cynicism has shown the Overwatch developers that role queue was required to keep the balance.
Sometimes I’m on DPS and I’m COMPLETELY ineffective. I need to go tank and let someone more qualified step in. Or there’s a Pharah and our DPS are not good at hitscan (I’m not great but I can handle it for my Elo).

I’ve won multiple games with six dps. open queue is not perfect, but definitely better than forced 2-2-2. Maybe a more flexible system like 3-2-1 somthing like that is better. I like open queue more.
Also shorter wait time.
Nah… Too much contention as to who needs to play what.
Again… OQ is fine, it’s the people who ruin the game.
Open queue is like “what if we had overwatch but less fun”
OP: I don’t get open queue.
Joker: You wouldn’t get it.
I like OQ because I’m winning a lot. But I want the season to end soon so I can finish in top 500. I know the forced loss streak is gonna come soon if I keep playing. But if I don’t play then I keep dropping in rank.
This.
Yes, you can play 4 DPS plus Roadhog. I will soloheal you (Ana, Baptiste). Ok!
BUT if you can’t pass the last choke with MT, Offtank, 2 Supports, Bastion & Sym perhaps somebody should switch.

One thing I find funny is on open queue some ppl still want to run 2/2/2 which basically is like why not go play the comp that enforces that. You know in open queue ur not likely going to get 2/2/2.

2/2/2 is still by far the most played comp in OQ.
Not in most the games I get for OQ it’s all dps 1 healer or 1 tank rest is dps. From the games I get OQ is more of a quickplay than comp, so that’s why I say ur not likely to get 2/2/2 in open queue. It does happen but for me is rare.
